1 APPLICATION PROCEDURES FOR FALL 2015 STEP 1: APPLICATIONS AND LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION 1. Early College Application: All students interested in participating in the Early College Magnet must complete this application packet. Be sure to respond to all parts of the application and have your parents/guardians read the application and sign page 2. The applications and recommendations must be submitted to Western Early College by January 9, Incomplete applications will not be processed. 2. Jefferson Community and Technical College Application for Admission: Once accepted into the Early College program, students will be required to complete a JCTC application for each course in which they are enrolled. 3. Letters of Recommendation: Students must have three staff members from the current middle school fill out the recommendation forms: Give the "Counselor Recommendation Form" to your guidance counselor. Give the "Teacher Recommendation Form" to a teacher who is familiar with your behavior, attendance, participation and performance in a classroom setting. Give the "Assistant Principal Recommendation Form" to a staff member familiar with your behavior at school and at school functions. This is usually the Assistant Principal. Give the counselor, teacher and administrator enough time to respond to all sections of the recommendation form. 4. Parent/Guardian Recommendation Form - A parent/guardian must respond to all questions on this form. STEP 2: INTERVIEW OF APPLICANTS - All applicants will be interviewed by the Early College staff upon selection for the program. STEP 3: STUDENT TESTING - Students who are accepted into the program must submit their ACT EXPLORE scores and may be required to take the COMPASS exam before scheduling college classes. STEP 4: STUDENT NOTIFICATION AND SCHEDULING OF COURSES - Students will be notified by mail and/or in person if they have been accepted into the Early College program. Students will be scheduled for an advisor meeting with a WECHS staff member to begin registration and scheduling for Fall 2015 courses. For more information contact:

Monitor and discuss progress in both high school and college courses. Attend any meetings or conferences arranged by the Early College staff.
