Transitions Meeting April 22nd from 5-6pm Transition Time is Approaching!! Please join Program Director Naomi Seeger for a conversation about the transition process on April 22nd from 5-6pm. Please sign up at the front desk. Transition FAQ S: As older children leave for big kids school, we will begin transitioning children to new classrooms. Naomi will begin conversations with parents to talk about specific transition plans and answer any questions. We anticipate this process to begin in June and continue throughout the summer. When spaces in older groups become available, Lead teachers and Program Coordinator, Naomi Seeger will inform parents of the opening, and invite their thoughts. The next step is arranging opportunities for the child to visit the new room. Depending upon the child and the situation, visits might spread out over a week or more. From a short initial visit with a trusted adult to lengthier solo visits, the child can become familiar with various aspects of the new setting. The adjustment to the new room may continue for a couple of weeks after the official move-up date. When it is time for your child to transition to the next classroom, you can expect your Lead Teacher to introduce you to your child s new teachers, provide you with a welcome packet and an incoming info sheet to be sent to the new classroom detailing any health issues, parental preferences and other pertinent information. In addition, we will be holding several transitions roundups throughout the year. Naomi will go over the process and address any concerns you may have. Sometimes, we have one child or more who might be ready for a move when there is not a space in the next room up. In those cases, we adapt our program to meet the needs of those children in the room where they are. Because of the open-ended nature of many of our activities, children with a wide range of developmental levels can continue to benefit from them as they, and their skill levels, grow and develop.
