The director will be on staff with NETwork, and will report to the Executive Director. Equipping student leaders and volunteers to minister with teens is a crucial part of this position. Ministry Profile The Teen Ministry Director will oversee ministry with two groups of youth: middle school and high school. For middle school, the director will be responsible to lead the already established FLAVA after school ministry, three days a week. For high school, they ll be responsible to launch and lead a new high school ministry, two times a week. While we expect this new ministry focus to be partially shaped by the giftings of the Teen Ministry Director, this is the vision we are currently working toward: One night a week might be focused on reaching a large group of teens through a fun night of games, music, skits, and more. The other meeting time might be focused on discipling a smaller group of teens who want to grow in Jesus. We are open to alternative proposals for a high school ministry model. Community Profile Chambersburg is a borough in south-central Pennsylvania, with a population of just over 50,000 people. Situated as the County Seat of Franklin County, Chambersburg is a growing, diverse community. While the borough maintains a small-town quality of life, Chambersburg also has many of the same benefits and challenges of larger cities, and many of the youth we serve at NETwork identify with urban culture. 2 Teen Ministry Director Job Description NETwork Ministries; Chambersburg, PA Position Summary: Directly responsible for leading after-school ministry with middle school youth and for launching a new high school ministry with teens two days a week in Chambersburg, PA. Must provide direction, oversight, and facilitation of ministry with neighborhood teens, and lead a team of student leaders and volunteers in doing so. Status: Full-time (32-40 hrs/wk), Paid ($25,000/annually), with health insurance benefits Educational & Experience Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor s degree or equivalent experience preferred; experience with urban and/or at-risk teens preferred, youth ministry or education degrees are especially welcome General Requirements (required of all NETwork employees): Christ-Centered Journey: Love of God and desire to serve Him, knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus, willingness to demonstrate and communicate one s faith in Christ, desire to live by the Spirit and to grow in the fruit and gifts of the Spirit, participation in a local church Commitment: to NETwork Ministries mission statement and to incarnational ministry Character: Christ-like role model, positive attitude, teachable, dependable, and trustworthy Core Values: respect, integrity, compassion, excellence, service Interpersonal skills: team player; an initiator; willing to lead and serve; good communication skills; coaching/empowering; relationship-centered; able to work irregular, evening hours; organized Safety Awareness: core knowledge of first aid, emergency response, and child abuse reporting Job Specifics Summary: Responsibilities & Expectations with Youth Be passionate about pursuing and connecting with youth, both in and out of scheduled program times Encourage spiritual growth through creatively teaching truth from Scripture, sharing the gospel, praying with teens Equip students to excel academically by assisting with homework and by leading fun learning activities Teach youth practical life skills of respect, serving, exercise, nutrition, cooking, cleaning, organization Provide opportunities for teens to develop as leaders, learn responsibility, and to grow in character Connect with teens through activities they enjoy; e.g.: athletics, art, music, dance, baking Lead team building exercises and service projects together; debrief these Take fun and meaningful trips off campus with students to businesses, colleges, cities, etc. Mentor and disciple youth one-on-one in small group settings, possibly during school lunches Seek to understand the many cultures represented in our youth and their families Be able to use classroom management skills and discipline in love Other Key Responsibilities Plan daily schedule and discussion topics; maintain structure and guidelines for the program Develop positive relationships with neighbors, teens families, and the surrounding community Help mentor and train the high school student leaders (StreetLeaders) that serve in this ministry Recruit and provide ongoing training and support to the team of volunteer leaders Evaluate program effectiveness; have vision to improve, grow, and make changes as needed Assist with fundraising and promoting NETwork in churches, the community, and with other contacts Work Schedule: Weekly staff and prayer meeting After school ministry 3 times a week with middle school students and 2 times a week with high school students. Develop relationships with a core group. Grow from there by intentionally pursuing additional teens. Additional activities and special events focused on building significant relationships with teens The summer schedule includes camps, trips, gardening, and a variety of relational ministry opportunities Additional time should be spent planning, learning, training student leaders and volunteers, working with teens families, promoting the ministry, and helping with organizational needs The Teen Ministry Director may need to perform tasks not specifically mentioned in this job description.
