Understanding How OfficeMate/ExamWRITER Works on the ipad Understanding How OfficeMate/ ExamWRITER Works on the ipad OfficeMate/ExamWRITER does not run directly on the ipad. You can, however, use an ipad like a remote control to see the screen and interact with a computer that is running OfficeMate/ExamWRITER. To do this, you must have OfficeMate/ ExamWRITER installed on a Terminal Server (either in your office or in a hosted environment) or on a computer in your practice. You will also need to purchase a remote desktop protocol (RDP) app for the ipad through the App Store. We recommend the 2X Client RDP/Remote/Desktop app. Figure 1-1: Use the ipad to access the OfficeMate/ExamWRITER software running on a computer. The computer running OfficeMate/ExamWRITER can be a Terminal Server, a computer in your office, or a Terminal Server in a hosted environment. NOTES ExamWRITER was designed for use with tablet computers. Selecting check boxes to move through the exam enables you to tap your way through an exam with relative ease. While not designed specifically for the ipad, ExamWRITER has been tested on the ipad and works well through an RDP client. OfficeMate was not designed specifically for use with tablet computers. While you can access OfficeMate on an ipad through an RDP client, it may only prove useful for reviewing such information as the schedule and order history. Terminal Server is required for multiple, simultaneous connections to a single computer running OfficeMate/ExamWRITER. Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services is included with Microsoft Server, but you will need to purchase enough client access licenses for the needs of your practice.
