Introduction This document provides step by step instructions on how Microsoft Dynamics SPLA partners create SPLA registration keys using the License Key Configuration (LKC) tool in VOICE. The main benefit of this tool is that keys can be generated without an order being placed. Assumptions The partner must be an authorized SPLA Partner (active SPLA agreement in place) to be eligible to create license keys. User has access to VOICE User has access to License Key Configurator Tool in VOICE What is SPLA licensing? The Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) is a fee-based licensing program where customer-use-rights of the software is based on continuous subscription and same-use rights ends when subscription ends. It is for services providers and independent software vendors (ISVs) to license the latest Microsoft software to provide software services and hosted applications to customers. SPLA Licensing Model More information on SPLA Functionality can be found in the User Guide here Microsoft Dynamics SMB SPLA Licensing Guide for NAV 2013 and GP 2013 can be found here on PartnerSource and here is the direct link to the guide. How To Process A New SPLA Llicense In The LKC Tool 1. In order to access the LKC tool you will need to set your access rights to Full in the License Key Configurator Access drop down box within your profile in VOICE. Your organisation s VOICE Administrator can make this change for you.
2. You can now log into the LKC tool under the Developer Tools link on the VOICE homepage. VOICE -> Developer Tools -> License Key Configuration. 3. To create a new SPLA license, click Create New Configuration.
4. Create the License Key Configuration by completing the fields that are presented to you. A list of these fields and the relevant descriptions can be found in Appendix A). Click on Select Modules when the Configuration Information is completed. (Note: For SPLA NAV 2013 or GP 2013 make sure to choose option Microsoft Dynamics NAV Subscription or Microsoft Dynamics GP Subscription as the product line rather than Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Ready.) 5. Review the License Module listing information displayed. Ensure that the required User Type is selected under the Product Edition drop down menu, Full User SAL or Standard User SAL (Note, you cannot select both Full User SAL and Standard User SAL on the same license). i. If no changes are required choose Save. ii. In this example, the Full User SAL option is pre-selected and cannot be removed. The only changes available are to the actual user counts.
iii. By default, the Save function will pre-populate the User Limit with the maximum user licenses permitted as shown in the diagram below. 6. To select individual modules (SPLA Custom Objects), click the relevant check boxes. You can update user counts by adjusting the User Limit column and click Save at the end of this page. The license keys will now be generated based on the selections made. 7. The screen shot below shows the completed License Key configuration. If the license is for Microsoft Dynamics AX or Microsoft Dynamics NAV, the recipient will also need to download the Current License/Registration Key license file. This file is separate from the regular product license keys and will need to be uploaded as part of the standard licensing set-up for Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics AX. Microsoft Dynamics GP and Microsoft Dynamics SL require a series of numbers/letters to be entered into the system. These license keys will be provided by the LKC tool.
Note: please select No for the ISV Insert Rights included. This is the default option.
How to Modify an Existing SPLA License Key Configuration in the LKC Tool Steps 1 to 4 below show how to retrieve an existing SPLA License Key configuration for review prior to editing. 1.
