to provide skills at Level 3 in the National Qualification Framework for those interested in the Beauty Therapy industry to provide opportunities for staff in the Beauty Therapy industry to gain a Level 3 qualification to qualify cidates as Body Therapists, Facial Therapists, Advanced nail technicians, Make-up Artists Electrologists at Level 3 in the Beauty Therapy industry to sustain the interest of cidates wanting to work in the Beauty Therapy industry to encourage knowledge understing for the Beauty Therapy industry at Level 3 to provide opportunities for cidates to focus on the development of the major Key skills the wider Key skills in a Beauty Therapy context such as communicating with clients, working with others problem solving to provide opportunities for cidates to develop a range of skills techniques, personal qualities attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Body Therapist. The cidate will study the theory of all treatments as well as the anatomy of the whole body including the face. 100/1914/5 21 Clinical Camouflage T/101/2236, K/101/6221 M/101/2034 41 Fashion, Theatre Media Makeup Grading of the qualification Each unit has two grades pass or refer If a learner is unsuccessful in any area, they will be expected to be reassessed only in the unit where they have not achieved a pass grade. Referrals should be completed within one year of the original examination provided that reassessments are attempted at least once every three months. Extensions to this time frame must be applied for in writing with the relevant supporting evidence supplied. The remainder of the results will stay in the ITEC system. All units should be taught concurrently examined concurrently. Case Study guidelines Case studies are required to be completed for this award. The case studies form the internal assessment should be assessed throughout the training by the tutor using the ITEC Case Study Guidance sheet. The case studies are then verified by an ITEC Examiner at the end of the course during the visit for invigilating the practical examination. The case studies ensure that a variety of clients must be consulted treated in all the above areas the outcomes of the treatments must be documented in order to gain experience of working with a variety of clients conditions whilst cidates are still under supervision. Detailed rationales for the choice of treatment outcomes must be shown, as well as after care product advice. Practical exams A Practical exam conducted by an ITEC Practical Examiner for units 6, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20, 21, 41 51. Units 1 22 are theory only. Internal Assessment of ALL case studies by the College Lecturer External Verification by the ITEC Practical Examiner. As indicated above all aspects of the award are examined externally by ITEC Practical Examiners. Recommended prior learning It is recommended that cidates should have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*-C, /or a Level 2 Beauty qualification prior to commencing the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. However, exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the work place. ITEC strongly recommend that cidate s progress to the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Spa Treatments after successfully achieving the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy as this is valuable for employment within the health farm/spa industry in gym fitness centres. Professional indemnity public liability insurance can be obtained via several different Industry Associations who recognise the ITEC Diploma. Relationship to National Occupational Stards The ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy complies with the National Occupational Stards for Beauty Therapy at Level 3. As there are currently no National Occupational Stards for Unit 14, Swedish massage, by which to map the massage unit, ITEC has ensured that best practice in the workplace has been reflected in the syllabus. ITEC has linked the qualification to the relative job role as well as ensuring that the syllabus reflects the required level of knowledge ability for the Therapist.
