THE ORGANIZATION INSURANCE CORPORATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is a provincial Crown corporation established in 1973 to provide universal auto insurance to BC motorists. ICBC provides insurance to more than 2.6 million BC motorists, and employs over 5,000 people. With $3.7 billion in revenues, and $13.1 billion in assets, ICBC is Canada s second largest property and casualty insurance company. Besides providing Basic insurance, ICBC also sells optional auto insurance and provides vehicle and driver licensing, vehicle registration and fines collection services, on behalf of the Province. About 50 percent of ICBC s revenue comes from Optional insurance sales and extended third-party coverage. ICBC s sells its insurance products through a network of approximately 900 independent brokers, government agents, and appointed agents, and processes nearly one million claims each year through various claims handling facilities. The company also works closely with the collision repair industry, law enforcement agencies, health services providers, lawyers, and public and community interest groups and organizations. ICBC is regulated by the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC), which approves Basic insurance rates and ensures that ICBC s provision of service is efficient and reasonable. ICBC s corporate vision is to be BC s preferred auto insurer, providing protection and peace of mind. The company has devised a suite of projects, collectively known as the Transformation Program, to enable it to meet this corporate vision. This $400 million program will upgrade current customer service systems, and implement a more streamlined process for customer service employees, resulting in a more customer-centric business model, and changing the roles, processes, culture, and information technology at ICBC. This will ultimately enable the company to run more efficiently and effectively and better meet customers needs and maintain the support of business partners. To learn more, visit: www.icbc.com THE OPPORTUNITY MANAGER, HR CONSULTING The Manager, HR Consulting is responsible for working with and leading a team of HR Consultants that provides HR Business Partner services to support ICBC s internal client groups in achieving their strategic and tactical objectives. Service areas related to management consulting and support in the areas of recruitment & selection, performance management, workforce planning, attendance management and other corporate people programs. The role s mandate focuses on a cultural shift away from a labour relations HR model, toward a progressive, partner of the business. Specifically, the Manager, HR Consulting will be responsible for: HR Consulting Develop trusting and collaborative relationships with leadership teams in assigned client groups and become an integral member of those teams as a trusted advisor; Gain deep knowledge and insights into the operation of the client groups, including strategies, talent levels, opportunities and challenges; Translate business knowledge into insights and opportunities to offer proactive people solutions; Coach leaders to effectively support and manage their team members; Participate as a HR representative in divisional meetings; Provide guidance to managers on career development in conjunction with their managers; Respond to inquiries from candidates, staff, managers, directors, and external suppliers; and Understand and interpret HR policies and provide advice on highly complex matters. Managerership Direct, coach, and support team members to achieve their highest level of performance; Create meaningful development plans that will stretch team members to fulfill their potential; Support the HR Leader in monitoring the HR budget. HR Program Delivery / Client Capacity Building Facilitate the annual talent assessment and development planning process in collaboration with divisional leaders; Support leaders to identify development needs and appropriate solutions (development plans, career broadening, coaching, mentoring etc.); Advise leaders on the management of underperformance and employee misconduct, presenting best advice on options and risks as informed by the Canada Labour Code; seek advice through external legal counsel as required; Identify leadership development needs and source and/or facilitate management development training in line with identified needs; Monitor people HR program completion/effectiveness; and Interpret data and reports to identify trends, issues, and generate action plans. THE PERSON Required Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience: 5+ years progressively more senior HR experience; Business degree preferred, including HR-specific education; A sound understanding of the underlying principles and concepts associated professional HR; Strong intellectual horsepower; able to think on their feet; Superb verbal and written communication skills; Excellent relationship builder; collaborative, yet able to hold influence; Well-developed management skills; superior leadership and coaching skills; Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills; and Resilience and tenacity.
