SOS Water supply A concept for drinking water supply within 72 hours after a natural disaster.

Disaster relief More and more frequently natural disasters occur which deal out destruction and enormous damage. Within the first half of 2010, ten strong earthquakes were counted worldwide. Sadly, most often they affect people who live in rather poor regions. Are we prepared in order to help in case of emergency? How do we act without bureaucracy and immediately? Why did it take more than a week until Haiti was served with clean water? How long can a human being survive without water? The chance of survival of a human: without air approx. six minutes (without permanent damage) without water up to three days without food up to three weeks Drinking water is essential for survival!

SOS Water Supply SOS Water Supply is a concept for drinking water supply within 72 hours after a natural disaster. We can achieve this with... mobile, independent water treatment systems an organised water distribution personnel who operate the unit partners who implement the concept Involved partners Trunz Water Systems is seeking for well prepared and coordinated partners who provide drinking water to a disaster area. Equipment SOS WATER Supply Transport Coordination Insurance Field service personnel Leasing company

Coordination Supply of relief goods and water units shall be coordinated through a central office. The coordination office provides the following for the service personnel a minimum of security shelter food and for the equipment space for storage Transport In case of an emergency, water treatment units and field service personnel need to be delivered to the disaster area at low costs and very fast. Goal Co-operation with an international transport company in order to ensure efficient transportation.

Equipment Trunz Water Systems will hold the following systems for water treatment on stock: (Amount of units is to be defined) TWS 200 for river and lake water (soft water) Capacity per unit: max 12 000 l/day = for 2 400 people five litres of clean drinking water per day TBS 200 for brackish water Capacity per unit: max 4 550 l/day = for 910 people five litres of clean drinking water per day TSS 200 for sea water Capacity per unit: max 1 750 l/day = for 350 people five litres of clean drinking water per day For water distribution we recommend our Water Bags. They are easy to fill and use. Thanks to the fact that they are collapsible, the bags need less space for transportation. Rental The concept avoids high investments in advance for equipment bought by the aid organisations or the coordination office. All equipment is provided on a rental basis. Goal Easier financial transaction by means of a co-operation with a leasing company.

Field Service Personnel Employees from the disaster relief corps or other specialists (e.g. technical operators from Trunz Water Systems) are working in the disaster area and operate the water units. All aid personnel will be educated within a technical workshop held by Trunz Water Systems in order that field service personnel is able to install and operate the water units. Goal Co-operation with aid organisations in order to send well prepared personnel in the field. Insurance Most often in case of an emergency, personnel and equipment is working in an area with higher risks. The insurance company shall cover: accident and illness of field service personnel travel of personnel insurance for water treatment equipment Goal Co-operation with an insurance company who covers all risks for such an operation.

Approach in case of emergency Occurrence (X) Natural disaster Inquiry at coordination office proposal and Order 24 h after X Coordination of involved partners Field service personnel and equipment is ready for shipment 48 h after X Transport 72 h after X Installation of water units Drinking water for the affected people Low chance of survival for people without access to water long-term application / Reconstruction Projects By request, the water treatment systems can be established lastingly after the disaster operation. A sustainable solution offers for example the Water Shop Concept. We gladly present you this business model.

We apply to... Governments, disaster corps and relief organisations which are looking for innovative solutions for emergency care or decentralized infrastructure in developing countries. Foundations who invest in long-term projects Companies who would like to support socially and environment-friendly projects in poor regions. Local companies/partners who guarantee distribution and on-site service in co-operation with Trunz Water Systems.
