2 General Notes 2.1 Appropriate Use The SeMSy III Failover Server software is a failover (hot standby) for network-based Dallmeier recording systems. The software permanently monitors the availability of all recording systems in the SeMSy III video management system. When the recording of a system is interrupted (fail of the device, loss of the network connection, HDD or RAID failure), the Failover Server switches all streams for the recording on the defined spare recording system. 2.2 Performance Features Monitoring of the availability of recording systems Definition of standby recording systems for all monitored recording systems Detection of failure of the recording system, loss of the network connection, HDD or RAID failure Instant switching of all streams for recording on spare recording systems Triggering of failover operation indicators on SeMSy III Workstations 2.3 Warranty The terms and conditions valid at the signing of the contract shall apply. www.dallmeier.com 5

The system must be restarted in order to complete the installation of the SeMSy III Failover Server. Fig. 4-23 ¾¾Confirm the reboot with OK. The installation of the SeMSy III Failover Server was performed. The SeMSy III Failover Server starts automatically after rebooting the system if it was set up as a Windows service. A manual server start can be done via the executable FailoverMngr file in the C:\ Programs (x86) > Dallmeier > SeMSyIII > FailoverServer > FailoverManager directory. The SeMSy III Failover Server gets at the startup the configuration settings from the SeMSy III Setup Server, that has been specified at the installation. The additionally installed FailoverMngrClient application displays system-wide status information about the active failure recordings of a SeMSy III Failover Server (see below). The SysStart application allows to display status information about the operating state of a SeMSy III Failover Server and the required web service server if the SeMSy III Failover Server is not running as a Windows service in the background (see below). www.dallmeier.com 17
5 Status And Activity In order to display the status and activity of a SeMSy III Failover Server different applications are available. 5.1 Failover Manager Client The Failover Manager Client application provides an overview of status and activity of the connections taken over by a SeMSy III Failover Server, for example, by failure of recording equipment or loss of network connections. ¾¾Start the application with the FailoverMngrClient file in the C:\ Programs (x86) > Dallmeier > SeMSyIII > FailoverServer > FailoverManager directory. The view displays the failed Primary devices and which Spare devices have adopted the service: Fig. 5-1 5.1.1 SeMSy III Database The information about the connection of the SeMSy III database can be updated. ¾¾Select File > SeMSy Database in order to open the configuration dialog. ¾¾Make the required adjustments and changes to the database login and connection. ¾¾Confirm the input with OK. 5.1.2 Failover Server Database The information about the connection of the Failover Server database can be updated. ¾¾Select File > Failover Database in order to open the configuration dialog. Fig. 5-3 ¾¾Make the required adjustments and changes to the database login and connection. ¾¾Confirm the input with OK. 5.2 Web Service Server The RestFul WebService is part of the installation and provides status information of the encoders and cameras for a SeMSy III Failover Server. A software tool displays the current status of the web service. ¾¾Open the tool with the SeMSy3FailOverRFS file in the C:\ Programs (x86) > Dallmeier > FailoverServer > FailoverWebservice directory. Fig. 5-4 www.dallmeier.com 19
6 SysStart The SysStart application provides the automatic server startup and monitors the server operating, if the SeMSy III Failover Server was not set up as a Windows service. Even the startup and the status of the required RESTFul web service, which provides the encoder and camera information for the server, will be controlled by the SysStart. ¾¾Open the application with the SysStart file in the C:\ Programs (x86) > Dallmeier > SeMSy III > FailoverServer > SysStart directory or via the icon in the system tray. Fig. 6-1 ¾¾Check the display for the status of the server and web service. www.dallmeier.com 20
