1 Installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software on an administrator or Introduction Some administrators want to install their administrative tools on their own Windows 2000 computer. This document explains how to install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Note: Currently, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software (MMC Snap-in) is not supported on Windows NT version 4.0. Creating a new data source 1. Log in to a on as the BlackBerry Service Account. On the Start menu, select Programs > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC) (figure 1). 2 2. Click the System DSN tab, and then click Add (figure 2). The Create New Data Source window appears. Figure 2: ODBC Data Source Administrator window System DSN tab 3. From the list box, select SQL Server and click Finish (figure 3). The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server window appears. Figure 3: Create New Data Source window SQL Server driver option 4. In the Name field, verify that the data source name that you specified during the initial BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software installation appears. 5. In the Description field, provide a description of the data source. (This step is optional.) 6. In the Server field, type the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the server on which the BESMgmt database is stored (for example, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or an SQL server) (figure 4) Research In Motion Limited Page 2 of 11

If you set up the BESMgmt database using Windows NT authentication, select the With Windows NT authentication using the network login ID option (figure 5). If you set up the BESMgmt database using an SQL Server authentication, select the With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user option. 9. If you want the computer to create log files, select the check boxes beside Save long running queries to the log file and Log OBDC Driver statistics to the log file. Click Finish (figure 8). A dialog box appears, listing the values that you specified for the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) connection driver (figure 9). The dialog box indicates whether the test was successful. Click OK (figure 10). Figure 10: SQL Server ODBC Data Source Test Installing the System Management Tools for Microsoft Exchange 2000 and running fixmapisvc.exe 1. Install the System Management Tools for Microsoft Exchange On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installation CD, change to the Tools directory. 3. Run fixmapisvc.exe. Note: If you are installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software on a client system that is running Microsoft Outlook, you do not have to install the System Management Tools or run fixmapisvc.exe Research In Motion Limited Page 5 of 11

6 Installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software 1. Run the setup.exe file for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software (figure 11). The Welcome screen appears. Read all of the terms of the Licence Agreement. If you agree to the terms, click Yes to accept the terms of the agreement (figure 13). The Database Information screen appears. If you do not agree with the terms of the Licence Agreement, click No to end the installation process Research In Motion Limited Page 6 of 11

In the Server Name field, type the name of the server on which the BESMgmt database is installed (figure 14). 5. In the Database Name field, verify that BESMgmt appears. 6. If you used a Windows NT Authentication when you set up the BESMgmt database, select the Windows NT Authentication option. If you used a SQL Server Authentication when you set up the BESMgmt database, select the SQL Server Authentication option. 7. Click Next. The MAPI Profile screen appears. Figure 14: BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management window Database Information screen 8. In the MAPI Profile field, type the name of the MAPI Profile that you want to use. 9. On the General tab, in the Microsoft Exchange server field, type the name of the Microsoft Exchange Server on which you created the service account mailbox. 11. In the Mailbox field, type the name of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox, and then click Check Name (figure 16). Figure 16: Microsoft Exchange Server window General tab 12. After the server and mailbox names are underlined, click OK. The Choose Destination Location screen appears. 13. Accept the default destination location or browse to the location that you want to use. Click Next (figure 17). The Select Program Folder screen appears Research In Motion Limited Page 8 of 11

Click Finish to complete the installation of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management software (figure 19). 10 Opening the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software 1. Start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software. Administer the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software from the administrator or remote system.
