1 December 2015 Scholarship Opportunities Previously Announced 1) Sun Trust Education Scholarship Sweepstakes Deadline: One entry per person every two weeks beginning Sep 14, 2015 and ending May 13, 2016. First drawing is Oct 30, 2015. Award: 30 awards will be made for $500 each. Eligibility: High school senior and undergraduate college students. Application: Online only. Visit www.suntrustcom/scholarshipsweepstakes for complete details, entry requirements, rules and conditions. 2) UMBC Center for Women in Technology (CWIT) Scholars Program School Specific Deadline: Recommend students to apply to UMBC by November 1, 2015. Students applying to the CWIT Scholars Program must submit the CWIT application and supporting documents to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships by January 15, 2016. Award: Four-year program offering scholarships ranging from $5,000 - $15,000 per academic year for in-state students. Eligibility: Students who will attend UMBC as a freshman and major in computer science, information systems, business technology administration (with a technical focus), computer engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical/biochemical/environmental engineering, or a related program. Award: Varies from $5,000 - $15,000 per year for the 4-year program. Cyber Scholars are supported financially and incorporated into a scholarship community, the CWIT Living-Learning Community, unique courses, mentoring, and the chance to take part in cybersecurity research and internships early in their academic careers. Eligibility: Students who will attend UMBC as a freshman, have a 3.25 GPA, and will major in computer science, information systems, business technology administration (with a technical focus), computer engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical/biochemical/environmental engineering, or a related program.. Application: Online at www.nfib.com/yea. 5) Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA) Central Maryland Scholarship a) 2016 Merit Scholarship Awards Deadline: December 21, 2015 Award: $10,000, awarded in equal increments of $2,500 in each year of a four-year college

Eligibility: graduating senior that is academically-competitive and well rounded. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and a combined math and verbal SAT score of 1200. Plan to enter a science or engineering field of study supportive of national defense (i.e., engineering, telecommunications, computer science, mathematics, or other related technical electives STEM). Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, and a combined math and verbal SAT score of 800. Blizzard 4H-FFA Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior who is a current or former 4-H or FFA member in Carroll County and will attend college. d) The Carroll County Food Services Association Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and college-worthy SAT scores who will attend college. Student plans to study and pursue a college degree or career in culinary arts, or a related field. e) The Carroll Association of School Employees (CASE) Scholarship

Eligibility: Applicant shall be a member in good standing of CASE or a child, stepchild or grandchild of a member of CASE. Student must: be in good academic standing and have been accepted at an accredited College, University or Technical School; demonstrate financial need; demonstrate character and leadership through service contributions to school and community. f) Catherine s Cause Scholarship Award: $1,000 Eligibility: Carroll County graduating high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher and will major in Education in college. g) Celebrate Youth Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better who will attend college in the fall. The applicant must have shown outstanding citizenship traits and have been involved in student service activities and extra-curricular activities in Carroll County during his or her high school career. h) Class of 1930 Nursing Scholarship Deadline: May 3, 2016 Eligibility: Carroll County graduating high school senior who participated in the Carroll County Career and Technology Center Nursing Program. i) The Doctor Niamh Tighe Memorial Scholarship Deadline: May 10, 2016 Eligibility: SCHS graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and college-worthy SAT scores. Student plans to study and pursue a career in Psychology. j) The Chester G. Elder Memorial Scholarship Eligibility: SCHS graduating senior planning to pursue a course of study that will lead to a career in Education. k) The Everybody s Quilt Guild Textile Arts Scholarship

Eligibility: SCHS graduating senior who will be pursuing studies in the field of Textile Arts. Student will have collegeworthy grades and SAT scores. l) The Donald E. Graf Memorial Scholarship Deadline: June 25, 2016 Eligibility: Student who has participated in the Carroll County 4-H Program and has exhibited livestock at the 4-H Fair. Student will have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and have college-worthy SAT or ACT scores. m) The Jay A. Graybeal Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County resident; student must exhibit exemplary character and have maintained high academic standards and exhibited extra-curricular, volunteer, work experience or an internship related to general history. Areas of interest include: museums, archival, library, historic preservation, material culture, American studies, archaeology, anthropology, art of architectural history or preservation technology. n) Hutchinson Memorial Scholarship Award: $1,500 Eligibility: SCHS graduating senior who has been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning. Student should demonstrate exemplary character, and have proven contributions to their school and the community and have participated in extracurricular activities. o) Karen Macleod Memorial 4-H Scholarship Deadline: July 1, 2016 Eligibility: Graduating senior must be: a 4-H member in Carroll County; must have exhibited sheep OR horses at the Carroll County 4-H / FFA Fair for at least one year. p) The Danielle K. Knell Memorial 4-H Scholarship Deadline: July 1, 2016 Eligibility: Carroll County senior who have shown academic achievement and participated in the Carroll County 4-H Horsemanship Programs and who have been accepted at an accredited College, University or Technical School.

q) The Alexandria Mary Kowalczyk Memorial Dance Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or better that demonstrates an interest in pursuing dance at the collegiate level, in either a curricular or extra-curricular capacity. r) The Charles W. Lewis Memorial Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior who has been accepted at an accredited 4-year college or university. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, shown outstanding citizenship traits and have been involved in student service activities, extra-curricular activities, and gainful employment. Students who have participated in Engineering courses at the Carroll Career and Technology Center will be given special consideration. s) Ryan Mackenzie Memorial 4-H Scholarship Eligibility: Graduating senior, 4-H member in Carroll County, must have exhibited sheep OR horses at the Carroll County 4-H / FFA Fair for at least one year. t) The Manufacturing and Machine Technology Scholarship Eligibility: Student will have attended CCCTC and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 with college-worthy SAT scores. The student will have demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Manufacturing or Machine Technology. u) John J. Mazur, Jr. Memorial 4-H Scholarship Deadline: June 15, 2016 Eligibility: Graduating senior who is a present or former 4-H member in Carroll County; has been accepted to college; and who has carried a livestock or photography project in 4-H. v) The Debbie Peregoy Memorial Scholarship Eligibility: CCCTC student who has maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and has college-worthy SAT scores who will attend college. Commitment to community service. Interest in pursuing a career in Special Education.

w) The Meghan Lynn Rippeon Memorial Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior with an interest in an undergraduate degree in early childhood Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. x) The Danele Shipley Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above with outstanding citizenship traits and involvement in student service activities and extra-curricular activities during high school. Financial need may be considered. y) The Harvey R. Shipley and Sons Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior who has been accepted at an institution of higher learning offering instruction in professional truck driver training. z) Scott E. Shipley Memorial Career & Technology Scholarship Eligibility: CCCTC Diesel Technology student who has been accepted to an accredited institute of higher learning and will study in the field of diesel technology. Extra-curricular or community involvement. aa) The School Nurses Association of Carroll County Scholarship Eligibility: Carroll County graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and college-worthy SAT scores who has been accepted at an accredited college or university to pursue a career in Nursing. bb) Michael W. Wantz Heavy Equipment Truck Technology Scholarship Eligibility: CCCTC Diesel Technology graduating senior who has been accepted to an accredited institute of higher learning to study the field of diesel technology. Extra-curricular or community involvement. 10) Maryland Emergency Management Association Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2016 Award: Five (5) $1,000 each Eligibility: Graduating Maryland senior. Scholarships will be awarded based on the quality of a student s essay, community involvement, student records, grades, financial need, and personal references. Student must be pursuing a career in Emergency Management or a related field (i.e., Public Safety, Disaster Relief, Public Services, Weather Service, Corporate Risk Management or Meteorology, etc). Application: Information and application are online at www.mdema.org. 11) Senatorial Scholarship Deadline: Complete and file FAFSA by March 1, 2016 Award: Minimum annual award is $400 and the maximum award is $10,100. Eligibility: Student must be a Maryland resident. Must enroll at a 2-year or 4-year Maryland college or university. Demonstrate financial need. Take the SAT or the ACT. Application: Complete and file the FAFSA. If your senator makes his/her own awards, you must call or write to your legislator for future instructions. Essay must be submitted via the scholarship application page and must include student name and contact information. 22) The 2016 Aspiring Nurse Scholarship Deadline: June 30, 2016 Award: $1,000 Eligibility: High school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, and BSN programs. Must be in good academic standing and on track to graduate from high school at the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year.
