1 Outside Scholarships for Minority Applicants Scholarship Award/Deadline Description African American Future Achievers Scholarship (Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship) $1,000 January 27th Applicants must have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean origin. Open to graduating high school seniors eligible to attend an accredited institution of higher learning in the US, and reside in a participating area. African American Scholarship Program "You Make the Difference" $2,000 January 15th Annual awards for minority graduating high school seniors from the Knoxville Area Urban League's service area who are planning to attend full time at a postsecondary institution. Students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and a minimum 3.3 GPA in math and science. Burger King Scholars Program Varies January 10th Applicants must be high school seniors who: maintain a 2.5 GPA, and plan to enroll full-time in an accredited twoor four-year college. Must be a US or Canada resident. Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholar Program Attn: Personnel Representative PO Box Arlington, VA (800) Annual salary up to $18,000 for tuition, fees, books and supplies. Summer travel to Washington, DC and a housing allowance also provided. October 15 Applicants must be high school seniors who are US citizens, at least 18-years-old by April 1 st of senior year, 1500 on all SAT sections, 3.0 GPA and able to demonstrate financial need. Recipients must be available to work in metropolitan Washington, DC each summer while in college. Chair Scholars Foundation, Inc $ per year February 15th Student must be physically challenged but does not have to be in a wheelchair. Applicants must have unmet financial need and a B average. Must be a high school senior or college undergraduate. Not minority specific.

Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement and motivation to serve and succeed. Minimum 3.0 GPA Congressional Black Caucus Scholarships Varies Various minority scholarships available. See website for more information. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Must be in the top 25% of their graduating class and have strong interest in summer employment with Duracell Inc. Open to US and non-us citizens. Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media Varies based on work hours (internship included with scholarship) Minority students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and an interest in the media industry as a career. Fisher Broadcasting Minority Scholarship 100 Fourth Avenue N, Suite 510 Seattle, WA Up to $10,000 May 31 If you are a permanent resident of the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, or Montana tuition may be applied to an out-ofstate school. If you are not a resident of these states, tuition must be applied to a school in one of these states. Must be a minority enrolled in a broadcast-oriented major with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
5 A Gift from the Heart Scholarship Varies per year February 15h Nonrenewable, but recipients are encouraged to reapply and compete annually. Annual awards for minority graduating seniors from T.C. Williams High School (VA) who will be enrolling in fulltime postsecondary studies. Selection based on academic achievement (min. 2.0 GPA), financial need, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities, and work experience. NAACP Willems Scholarship (410) $2,000 for Undergraduates April 30 Applicant must be a male NAACP member majoring in one of the following fields: Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. Applicant must be a citizen of the US and be applying to or accepted at an accredited college in the US. Minimum GPA of 2.5. You may apply in one or more categories up to nine disciplines. You must be a high school senior or you must be years old on December 1. Not minority specific. National Society of Black Engineers $1,000-$5,000 Various scholarships available. Further information must be requested. National Student Nurses' Association Breakthrough to Nursing Scholarship 45 Main Street, Suite 606 Brooklyn, NY (718) nsna@nsna.org $1,000-$2,5600 January Minority undergraduate students who are enrolled in nursing or pre-nursing programs at a state-approved institution. The Ron Brown Scholar Program $10,000 annually for 4 years November 1st/January 9th Black high school seniors must excel academically; show exceptional leadership potential, be involved in community service and must demonstrate financial need. Must be US citizens or have a permanent resident VISA. Jackie Robinson Scholarship Up to $7,500 per year, renewable March 15th Minority graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year, accredited college/university; academic achievement, leadership and financial need will be considered. Minimum SAT score of 1000 for Math and Reading, or ACT score of 22. US Navy Scholarships: Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, Nurse NROTC, Montgomery GI Bill, Baccalaureate Degree, Completion Program Range from $23,000- $150,000 Applicant must be a US citizen, 17 to 27 years old. Other requirements are applicable, depending on the scholarship program. Scholarships dependent on enrollment in Navy after graduation. Not minority specific.
7 Wal-Mart Foundation Applications available at Wal-Mart store or Sam's Club $3,000 January 28th High School seniors only. Selection will be based on academic record, ACT/SAT test scores, community/extracurricular involvement, work experience and financial need. Minimum GPA 2.5 *Not minority specific Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship 150 State Street, 4th Floor Rochester, NY $1,000-$10,000 September 30th Must be minority student in technical science or engineering discipline, enrolled full-time and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. These scholarships represent only a small fraction of the scholarship money available to students pursuing higher education.
