The ceter will be ivolved i research, health promotio, ad commuity outreach. Dr. Mary Catherie Ehlma, assistat professor of gerotology, was appoited director of the ceter i August. She recetly completed a doctorate i health-related scieces gerotology. The ceter is pursuig a umber of projects, icludig the followig: Ehlma Bladder scaer study - A research study fuded by the Idiaa State Departmet of Health will assess the beefits of usig a bladder ultrasoud scaer i ursig homes. Four ursig homes i Souther Idiaa will serve as study sites. Telehealth is growig at a rapid rate ad is beig used i hospitals, cliics, physicia offices, ad homes. Recogizig this ew frotier, we are developig a program of istructio ad practice opportuities to better prepare studets for this expadig area. Throughout the coutry, Shriers specialty hospitals provide bur, orthopedic, cleft palate, ad related specialty treatmet for thousads of childre at a cost of millios of dollars.
