GENERAL SINCLAIR INFORMATION Tartan Card The Tartan Card is your student I.D. and is required to use college services or participate in college sponsored activities. Visit www.sinclair.edu/services/tartancard/ to learn more about the benefits of having and using a Tartan Card. If you will be coming to a Sinclair campus to take classes, you can have a Tartan Card made at any Sinclair location. Please note: the Dayton campus is the only campus location that can give you the Tartan Card the same day.

GENERAL SINCLAIR INFORMATION Student Parking College Credit Plus student parking is FREE at all Sinclair locations. To receive free parking at the Dayton campus, you MUST have your Tartan Card with you. Without your card, parking in the student garage is $5.

GENERAL SINCLAIR INFORMATION my.sinclair Account and E-mail Every Sinclair student is given a my.sinclair account and email address. Log in to your my.sinclair account to: Check your Sinclair email. You are urged to check this email account regularly because Sinclair will use it to communication CCP-specific information, deadlines, and other important college information. View your class schedule. See your grades. Register online for courses. Access online courses. And more! To log in to your my.sinclair account, type my.sinclair.edu into a browser window. Login/Username: firstname.lastname Initial Password: Pass + Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (example: Pass7480) After logging in for the first time, we recommend that you change your password. If you have any issues accessing or using your account, contact the Sinclair Help Desk at (937) 512-4357 (HELP). The Help Desk is open 6 a.m. - 12 midnight, 7 days a week.

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS OVERVIEW What is College Credit Plus? College Credit Plus (CCP) provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to take college courses at no cost to the student/family and receive college credit before graduating high school. You have the following options for enrolling in college courses: At a high school taught by a high school teacher (adjunct) At a high school taught by a Sinclair Instructor At a Sinclair location taught by a Sinclair instructor Online, taught by a Sinclair instructor and typically proctored by a high school teacher.

COURSE SELECTION, RESTRICTIONS & REGISTRATION POLICIES Under CCP: Course Selection You may register for up to 30 credit hours per academic year. You need to work with your school counselor to determine how may credit hours you are eligible to take. This is based on the number of high school Carnegie Units you will earn during the academic year. Course(s) and credit hour availability is based on information provided by your high school counselor.

COURSE SELECTION, RESTRICTIONS & REGISTRATION POLICIES Course Selection You are responsible for consulting with your high school counselor to determine which courses meet graduation requirements. 3 or more college credit hours = 1 high school Carnegie Unit Funding for non-public and homeschool students will be determined by the state and will determine eligible number of credit hours.

COURSE SELECTION, RESTRICTIONS & REGISTRATION POLICIES Course Restrictions The courses you choose to take must fulfill a degree/certificate requirement. The courses you choose to take cannot be developmental studies or based on a religious doctrine. You are eligible to enroll in courses based on your college readiness and fulfillment of course prerequisites. In order to enroll in an online course, you must first complete the free How to Succeed Online tutorial at www.sinclair.edu/online/success

COURSE SELECTION, RESTRICTIONS & REGISTRATION POLICIES Course Registration Process If you are taking courses online or at a Sinclair location, you can register for your classes: Online by following the steps in your Sinclair Web Advisor account at my.sinclair.edu (see the next pages for the process) In person at any Sinclair location by: Scheduling an appointment with the CCP Coordinator found on your acceptance letter Scheduling an appointment with an Academic Advisor if you need assistance with planning courses within a degree/certificate program. Visit www.sinclair.edu/services/advising for appointments at the Dayton Campus. Advising appointments can also be made at other Sinclair locations by contacting the regional locations. Attending an Express Registration Event at any Sinclair location. If you are taking courses at your high school, you will be registered for those classes through your school guidance office.

SELECTIVE SERVICE REQUIREMENT

SELECTIVE SERVICE REQUIREMENT Federal law states that all males aged 18 through 25 must be registered with the Selective Service. Ohio law requires all males not in compliance to pay out-of-state tuition and fees for college. Students not in compliance with the law may not have their CCP funding approved. Students must register for the Selective Service upon their 18 th birthday to continue to receive CCP funding during the school year. You can register: At any U.S. Post Office Online at https://www.sss.gov; or At the Registration & Student Records office on the Dayton Campus, Building 10, Room 10231, or at the front desk of any Sinclair location

COURSE MATERIALS

Textbooks For courses taken at the High School: All books will be ordered and distributed to you by your high school. For Courses taken on a Sinclair Location or Online: You have two options for getting your textbooks: In Person: take your Tartan card directly to any Sinclair campus bookstore to pick up your books. Your high school will be charged for the books. Online: order your books online at www.sinclair.edu/bookstore and have them delivered to your home or at a satellite campus. For Homeschool Students: COURSE MATERIALS Homeschool students will follow the same process used for courses taken at a Sinclair location or online (outlines above), however homeschool families are responsible for the cost of all books. For questions regarding homeschool book payment, contact the Ohio Department of Education at: ccp@education.ohio.gov

GRADE POLICY

GRADE POLICY Grade Reports Grades are reported to the high school counselor at the end of each term. Grades are posted to your my.sinclair account at the end of each term by the college.

Reminders: GRADE POLICY Grade Reports You must be academically ready for college work to participate in CCP. You will earn transcripted college and high school credit upon successful completion of the course. You will be subject to all normal Standards of Academic Progress as outlined in the Sinclair Student Handbook. A low college GPA can have a significant impact on future college admission and financial aid (i.e. scholarships, loans, and grants).

GRADE POLICY W, I, Z, OR F GRADES Courses with a grade of W, I, Z, or F, may result in your high school charging you for the course. Charges may include tuition, books and fees If your grade is changed for any reason, YOU are responsible for notifying your high school within 30 days of the end of the term. W= late withdraw; I = incomplete; Z= No show; F= Failed

IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES Spring Semester 2016

Important Dates & Deadlines Spring Semester 2016 These dates apply to you if you are taking a course at a Sinclair Campus or online. If you are taking courses at your high school, check with your high school counselor on relevant dates. November 2, 2015 Registration begins for Spring Semester 2016 courses January 11, 2016 Classes begin Full & A-Term (8 weeks) January 19, 2016 Last day to withdraw without record Feb 15, 2016 Classes begin 12 week term March 14, 2016 Classes begin B-term (8 weeks) April 8, 2016 Last day to withdraw with a W May 8, 2016 Classes end Check the Sinclair website for A & B-term withdrawal dates: www.sinclair.edu/services/registration/dates Important Sinclair Campus Dates: January 18, 2016: Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday all Sinclair locations will be closed, and classes will not be in session. March 7-13 2016: Student Spring Break all Sinclair locations will be open regular hours, however classes will not be in session.

Important Dates & Deadlines Weather and Unexpected Closings If you are taking classes at your high school, follow your high school guidelines for delays and closings. If your high school is closed and Sinclair is still open, CCP students taking courses online or at a Sinclair location are expected to attend their regularly scheduled Sinclair classes. EXPECTATIONS OF CCP STUDENTS Sinclair is committed to providing an environment conducive to highquality education and student success. You are now a college student, and as a college student you are expected to: Read and comply with the college catalog, student handbook, and any other published regulations relating to student responsibilities (available at www.sinclair.edu). Be respectful of the rights of others. Comply with the directions of college officials. Respect and comply with all laws and rights of good citizenship. Respect the freedom to teach and the freedom to learn. Attend classes. Complete assignments on time. Ask for feedback from instructors. Sign up for a tutor at the beginning of the semester if you need additional help outside of class.

ON-CAMPUS RESOURCES & SUPPORT Student Resources & Support The following resources and support services are free to Sinclair students: Tutorial Services: receive free-of-charge tutoring in person or online (etutoring) for many Sinclair courses. More information can be found at www.sinclair.edu/support/tutor Computer Labs: Every Sinclair location has computers available for student use. The Dayton campus also has a Writing Center and Math Lab for additional help. Disability Services: This department accommodates all qualified students with disabilities. Library: Sinclair s state-of-the-art Library is located on the Dayton campus on the lower level of Building 7. Sinclair Police: The officers keep campus safe, house the campus lost & found, provide campus escorts, and more.
