Resort Style Retirement Living Well the history of Dallas Retirement Village is steeped in a rich heritage of caring and providing a wonderful place to live, the future of DRV is consumed with furnishing a quality of life that is simply extraordinary. The new 40 unit independent living apartment building as well as the new Lodge Community Center (rendering pictured below) are all part of the vision for the future of DRV. Those who want to take advantage of these new enhanced resident amenities can get in on the ground floor by joining the Priority Club. We already have started reserving units for many people who are interested in joining what the future is bringing to our beautiful campus! The future vision of the new amenities to be offered would be additional covered parking, expanded dining and wellness opportunities, walkway connections between new and existing buildings and updates to selected preexisting structures. The restaurant-style dining, bistro dining and a main kitchen will make meal choices exciting. A library, movie theater and a lounge are also in the planning phase of this extensive project. Administration Update Kimberly Kern Health Care Administrator Kimberly Kern is our HC administrator. She has been with us for over a year now, but in the industry for over 20 years. Kimberly brings years of wonderful experience and has been a great addition to our DRV family. You will often see Kimberly in residents rooms visiting, participating with residents during special activities,, she loves to get to know each individual that comes to Dallas Retirement Village. You will also see Kimberly with one of the greats loves of her life, his name is Lincoln. We featured Lincoln on our pets page. He is the stunning gentleman laying on the couch. Please stop in and introduce yourself to Kimberly if you have not had the chance to meet her yet. Welcome Kimberly! Karri Key AL / MCC Administrator Karri Key is our Assisted Living Administrator. She started this role about 8 months ago. However, Karri started out with Dallas Retirement back in 2008, as a charge nurse, then became one of our key Nurse Managers in our Health Center. Karri has been a nurse since 1991. I have had the privilege of working along Karri for many years, and find her heart for each resident, their family members and her staff, to be so refreshing. She wants what is best for each individual that comes into her life. I asked Karri why she wanted to be a nurse, and she said she decided to be a nurse after reading "Cherry Ames" book series. These books were along the lines of the Hardy Boys back in the day, but were about a nurse by the name of Cherry. Welcome Karri! DRV is Going to the Dogs As of August 2014, Dallas Retirement Village will now be including doggies on our roster of residents, in designated areas. Up until now, residents have not been permitted to bring there pets to live with them on campus. We have always encouraged visiting pets, but our furry companions were not able to reside with their owners. We are looking forward to having these new 4 legged residents here with us! There is obviously criteria and systems we have put in place to accommodate our newest residents. One of the great things about this project is we have teamed up with a local business called, All Animals are Heavenly, right across the street from us on Ellendale Avenue. All Animals are Heavenly are willing to help out when we need them, 24 hours a day. We all recognize the need and desire for our residents to have their dog or cat come with them when they move here, so this project that DRV and All Dogs are Heavenly have been working on, is finally going to happen, and we could not be happier..
