4 HARTSFIELD- JACKSON ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT City of Atlanta - Department of Aviation $6,200,000,000 Atlanta, Georgia In the late 1990s, the City of Atlanta s Department of Aviation approved a 10-year capital improvement program that would enable the world s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), to reduce delays, accommodate forecasted demand, and enhance customer service. Parsons, a partner of International Aviation Consultants, played a significant role in the development, planning, design, and construction of several projects, including a new air traffic control tower, terminal construction, landside access and parking facilities, and the $1.2 billion Fifth Runway, one of the most complex structures of its kind and one of the largest construction undertakings in Georgia s history. The runway configuration makes ATL one of the few airports in the world capable of accommodating triple simultaneous landings in instrument flight rule (IFR) conditions. ABU DHABI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) USD $9,390,000,000 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of the fastest-growing airports in the world. To accommodate the increasing volume of passengers, the airport embarked on an ambitious expansion program in Providing program and construction management services, Parsons worked with the customer to plan, design, and construct Terminal 3, built to accommodate an additional 3.5 million passengers, in just six months. Additional projects have included a new 4.2-kilometer runway and parallel taxiway designed for superjumbo jets, two gates intended for new large aircraft, and a new air traffic control tower. When completed in 2016, the new Midfield Terminal Complex will provide the necessary capacity for the 20 million passengers expected annually as part of the airport s continued growth. With options allowing it to support nearly twice that capacity, the airport will undoubtedly continue its reign as a top-rated facility for carriers and passengers alike. 2 FORT LAUDERDALE-HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Broward County Aviation Department $791,000,000 Fort Lauderdale, Florida Parsons is the construction project manager for the expansion of Runway 9R-27L at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The runway expansion is vital to the airport s long-range program and to the overall air traffic system in the United States. When complete in 2014, the project will extend the south runway to 8,000 feet, widen it to 150 feet, and change its designation to 10R-28L. The program includes bridge structures with tunnel characteristics, which will carry the new runway and parallel taxiway over U.S. 1, the Florida East Coast Railway, and surrounding roads. Parsons construction management services will include oversight of multiple phases, extensive traffic maintenance, deep foundations, structures, and a significant amount of life safety components. 3

5 GUANGZHOU BAIYUN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Corporation USD $2,900,000,000 Guangzhou, Guangdong, China The new Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, five times the size of the original airport and now a 24-hour operation, is capable of handling 80 million passengers and 360,000 aircraft operations annually. Parsons total-solutions approach enabled the customer to allocate resources effectively, improve service without driving up costs, and increase profitability, both at the airport and throughout the surrounding region. The new facility features a 130-gate main terminal and connection building, four concourses, parking, a hotel, and China s largest air-traffic control tower. As an international hub for commerce and travel, the new airport contributes to the economic development of the region and provides new opportunities to its citizens, resulting in a facility that is not just expansive, but also momentous.
