7 WG1 Goals - The FP 2050 Mobility Vision 1a 1b 2a 2b 3a 3b European Citizens are able to make informed mobility choices and have affordable access to one another, taking into account economy, speed and tailored level of service. Travelers can use continuous, secure and robust high speed communications for added-value applications. 90% of travelers within Europe are able to complete their journey, door to door, within 4 hours. Passengers and freight are able to transfer seamlessly between transport modes to reach the final destination smoothly, predictably and on time. Flights arrive within one minute of the planned arrival time regardless of weather conditions. The transport system is resilient to disruptive events; it is capable of automatically and dynamically reconfiguring the journey within the network to meet the needs of the traveler if disruption occurs. Special mission flights can be completed in most weather and atmospheric conditions and operational environments. 4 An air traffic management system is in place that provides a range of services to handle at least 25 million flights a year of all types of vehicles, (fixed-wing, rotorcraft) and systems (manned, unmanned, autonomous) that are integrated into and interoperable with the overall air transport system with 24-hour efficient operations of airports. 5 A coherent ground infrastructure has been developed including airports, vertiports and heliports with the relevant servicing and connecting facilities to other modes as well. 7

10 A simplified journey involving air travel Travel improvements: Travel decisions based on unbiased information according individual travel preferences (e.g. environmental footprint, cost, reliability, punctuality, health aspects etc.) Integrated door-to-door travel planning, booking, ticketing and payment (one contract/ ticket for entire journey) Door-to-door (multimodal) travel monitoring & reconfiguration reduces uncertainty, buffers and stress Integrated airport processes provide a hassle-free walk-through experience Sufficient system capacity and integration allows customers freedom of choice and unprecedented reliability, service and punctuality levels. 12 EC multimodal policy goals WHITE PAPER FOR TRANSPORT (2011) Seamless multimodal door-to-door travel (Initiative 22) Prompting the development of measures and framework conditions for further integration of transport modes and effective deployment of ITS Vision of a complete user-friendly experience already at the planning stage Seamless experience including multimodal scheduling, information, online reservation and payment systems and smart ticketing, ideally via one website. Vision becoming a reality by 2020 by conceptualising a framework for a European multimodal transport information, management and payment system. 18 ACARE SRIA wrt mobility The mobility section of the SRIA is the result of a concerted effort of more than 60 colleagues representing all relevant aviation stakeholders in WG1 In total about 450 research and innovation needs were identified with regards to meeting societal and market needs in the main domains Policy Technology Operational concept Knowledge Infrastructure Additional input to the SRIA is very much appreciated! An SRIA update has been initiated, Version 2 will be published mid /7/
