6 POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT The Healthcare Management Institute is affiliated to Pune University. The course is conducted according to the syllabus framed by Pune University. It is of one-year duration and comprises of 2 semesters. Examinations are held by Pune University in November (first semester) and May (second semester) each year. 7 Eligibility a) Bachelor s Degree in any faculty of any statutory University or equivalent diploma awarded by the Board of Technical Education of any State/ Central Government b) Post SSC 3 years Diploma with 2 years experience after passing the Diploma c) Post HSC 2 years Diploma with one year experience after passing the Diploma d) General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) - 3½ years course after HSC conducted by Nursing Council of any State with one year experience after passing GNM course. Admission Process Application forms are available on the website Brochures and application forms are also available at the Institute. Fill up the details and send it to the Institute with Photostats of required certificates and a demand draft (DD) of Rs. 400 by courier/ registered post. Cash is accepted only if the form is submitted in person at the Institute.

8 Every candidate will appear for an interview and discussion with the Director of the Institute. There is no written examination. Selection for admission is based on the eligibility criteria and the interview. Candidates must bring their original assessment certificates for review at the time of interview. After selection, the candidate is expected to pay the fees and submit the original certificates to the Institute. Project Report Every student will complete a Project Report under the guidance of a Senior Faculty who will act as the Guide. The Project is expected to be studied in one of the Hospitals or Healthcare Organizations allotted by the Institute. At the end of the 2 nd Semester, the student is expected to complete the Project Report in not less than 5000 words and submit three copies of the Report to the Director of the Institute before 31 st March of the academic year. The report must be based upon a reasonable sample survey, collection of primary data and data analysis of some functional area of healthcare and its management.

9 The Report will be internally evaluated by the Guide of the Project and the marks out of 30 will be communicated by the Director to the University before the commencement of the 2 nd Semester University Examination. At the end of the 2 nd Semester, the Viva-Voce shall be conducted by a panel of two External Examiners appointed by the University. The evaluation of the Project Report by the External Examiners will be out of 70 marks. Seminars, Group Discussions and Case Studies Seminars, group discussions, study tours, class tests, assignments and case studies will be scheduled. Students will be expected to be well prepared, attend and participate. These will form part of the Concurrent Evaluation to determine the overall percentage for each student. A minimum of 75% attendance for all lectures is mandatory.

10 Internship On successful completion & passing of both the Semester Examinations, students will have to complete Internship Training in a hospital for a period of not less than 60 working days, as a part of the course. The hospital for training will be selected by the Director of the Institute. Diplomas will thereafter be awarded. The student will collect the required Internship Completion Certificate from the concerned hospital. The Institute will submit this Certificate to the University. 14 Standard of Passing: Every candidate must secure at least Grade E in Concurrent Evaluation (Internal Assessments and Examinations) as well as in the University Examinations as separate heads for passing each course. Diploma Requirements: a) Earned Credits: The Diploma requirements for the PGDHM program is completion of 34 earned credits. b) Final Grade Point Requirement: A student must obtain the Final Grade Point of a minimum of to be eligible for the award of the PGDHM Diploma. Fees for the Course The total fee for the course is Rs. 40,000/-. Fee may also be paid in TWO installments: First installment Rs. 20,000 on admission Second installment Rs.20,000 within one week of college reopening.

Only those students who have paid the full fee will have access to study materials and use of computer lab and library. Refund Policy No refund will be given to students who cancel their admission after the start of the first semester. All students who cancel their admission must return their identity cards and study materials issued to them. An administration fee of Rs will be deducted from the total fee paid and the balance will be refunded to students who cancel their admission before the semester starts.
