1 Scholarships that Require an Essay or Specific Letter of Reference as Part of the Application Erickson Family Scholarship Preference for this award will be given to a student who is: a direct descendant of J. Stephen Erickson &/or K. Clydean Erickson &/or their brothers or sisters; employed by The Drug Store of Cameron, MO; from a town of less than 20,000 in population; or is employed by a privately held (independent) pharmacy company. Please note that each applicant must have a letter of recommendation from a currently employed pharmacist of The Drug Store of Cameron, MO. Mary and Tim Euler Student Mentor Award This shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 3rd or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who has sustained leadership on behalf of the School of Pharmacy. (NOTE: Leadership may be defined broadly if need be for this award; it is not a requirement that an organizational president or other class leader has to receive this award.) The award recipient should have served as a role model and mentor to other students aspiring to leadership positions and show care and concern for their peers. Please note that the student applicant must submit a one page essay, double-spaced addressing their qualifications for this award. Evelyn Suffecool Scholarship Shall be awarded to students in the first professional year of the doctor of pharmacy program. Please note that all applicants for this scholarship must also submit a one-page essay. Please see the Pharmacy Scholarship BlackBoard site for more information on the essay topic. Suffecool/Plank Scholarship Shall be awarded to students in the first professional year of the doctor of pharmacy program. P 1 P 2 P 3 P 4 P P P P Master List of All Other Student Scholarships Grace Hoelzel Albano, MD, R.Ph. Scholarship Awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student who is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to applicants in their 3rd and 4th years of pharmacy school with a demonstrated involvement in pharmacy student leadership organizations and/or Pharmacy Foundation or alumni activities and programs. Preference will also be given to a student who plans to practice in either Missouri or Kansas following graduation. Fred Angle Scholarship One student scholarship will be disbursed each year to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year (P2, P3, or P4) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career with a community pharmacy and who has preferably served an internship with a community pharmacy. It is also requested that the student applicant s letter of reference come from a community pharmacy pharmacist. Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 4th year (P4) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to a student who indicates at their first choice a career with a hospital pharmacy following graduation or who plans to apply for a hospital pharmacy residency following graduation and who plans to stay in the Kansas City metropolitan area following graduation. Wright V. and Gladys A. Bartholomew Scholarship This scholarship is awarded competitively to a doctor of pharmacy student entering the third semester of the professional program in the School of Pharmacy. The student must have expressed interest in entering community pharmacy practice after graduation. 1

2 Francis Bud and Mary Bisceglia Memorial Scholarship Preference will be made to a second- or third-year pharmacy student interested in community (independent) pharmacy practice. Dennis R. Bond, R.Ph. Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year (P2, P3, P4,) with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career with an independent or independent chain pharmacy following graduation and who has preferably served an internship with an independent pharmacy. It is also requested that the student applicant s letter of reference come from an independent pharmacist. Barbara Booth and Alice Miller Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student who is active in school and community organizations, with preference given to a student who works in a hospital setting. Preference is also given to a student who wants to pursue a residency and a career in a hospital setting. Lewis Bratt Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has an interest in independent community pharmacy. Financial need will be taken into consideration. Ann and Wayne Brown, Ph.D. Scholarship Preference for a student seeking a career in hospital pharmacy. Student must demonstrate past or current experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting. Letter of reference must come from a hospital pharmacist Donald R. Brown, R.Ph. Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in the UMKC School of Pharmacy who is eligible to receive financial aid and is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to an applicant who is a direct descendant of Robert C. and Belva A. Brown, or Forrest and Eloise Waller. Without an available applicant who is a direct descendant of the Browns or Wallers, preference shall be given to a student from the southwest Missouri geographic area that is currently enrolled at the UMKC School of Pharmacy. Additional consideration shall be given to a student seeking a pharmacy career in a Missouri community with a population of less than 40,000. Burch and Sabo Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their P2, P3 or P4 years with a minimum 2.5 GPA and a strong performance as a leader within the school of pharmacy and community. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career in the pharmacy industry division following graduation and who has preferably served an internship with a pharmaceutical industry organization. It is also preferred that the student applicant s letter of reference come from a pharmaceutical industry representative, or an alumnus of the UMKC School of Pharmacy who is currently employed in or retired from a career in the pharmaceutical industry. Shawn Burke Memorial Scholarship Shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in good standing and a member of the UMKC chapter of AMCP American Managed Care Pharmacist organization. Century Club Grant for Clinical Pharmacy Awarded to a second-year doctor of pharmacy student whose dedication to the area of clinical pharmacy is reflected by a desire to pursue clinical practice. Century Club Grant for Hospital Pharmacy Awarded to a second-year doctor of pharmacy student who demonstrates both an interest in and the intention to practice hospital pharmacy upon graduation. Class of 1975 Scholarship Preference will be made to a first-, second-, or third-year pharmacy student with demonstrated leadership experience while in pharmacy school and/or personal time volunteered in service to the Pharmacy Foundation through special event assistance, golf tournament help, etc. 2

3 Class of 1982 Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who has demonstrated volunteerism, leadership, or other involvement with the Pharmacy Foundation, the Pharmacy Alumni Association, or the UMKC School of Pharmacy. Preference shall be given to a student who receives their letter of support from a member of the Pharmacy Foundation or Pharmacy Alumni Board. Class of 2014 Scholarship Preference for this scholarship is given to a student who is involved in pharmacy school organizations, volunteer work, or other activities that help to promote the profession of pharmacy. Class of 2015 Scholarship x x (To be awarded to a one recipient) Active involvement in pharmacy class activities and in leadership positions. Community service involvement outside of pharmacy school CVS Community Scholarships Awarded to four doctor of pharmacy students entering the second-year class who plan to practice community pharmacy after graduation. NEW CRITERIA THIS YEAR: Student must demonstrate volunteer hours for organizations that support underserved populations, and one recipient must be bilingual. D & H Prescription Drug Store Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a student in the UMKC School of Pharmacy program located on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia with the following criteria: a. Student is a high school graduate of Audrain, Boone, Cole, Cooper or Callaway counties in the State of Missouri b. Student is a current Missouri resident c. Student indicates a preference for a career in an independent pharmacy following graduation d. Student is in the high need category for financial aid Students may fit more than one of these criteria; if so, they are added together. Example: the student is from Boone County, MO and indicates a preference for a career in an independent pharmacy, they would then qualify for criteria (a) and (c) listed above. Lewis D. DeClerck Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a second-year doctor of pharmacy student who ranks in the top 10 percent of the class and who exhibits leadership qualities. Adele and Glenn Eberhart, Ph.D. Scholarship Awarded to doctor of pharmacy students in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year who are in good standing academically. Preference will be made to applicants who are selected to attend the University of Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies Conference held annually in Salt Lake City, Utah. Secondary preference will be to a student who has participated in the School of Pharmacy elective course Introduction to Drugs of Abuse and with demonstrated leadership experience. In the event that the University of Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies Conference is no longer in operation or the School of Pharmacy no longer sponsors an academic course in Drug Abuse, this scholarship may be awarded for another conference or workshop of similar structure and reputation on the effects of alcoholism and drug abuse in regards to the field of Pharmacy. Eisenbrandt Scholarship A stipend is awarded to a student in years two through four of the professional pharmacy program who is excelling academically. Fendler Family Scholarship Scholarship will be disbursed each year to a student in the School of Pharmacy who is eligible to receive financial aid and is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to a minority applicant who is an entering first-year Professional Degree student (P1) with demonstrated leadership experience and significant financial need. 3

4 GKCSHP (Greater Kansas City Society of Health-System Pharmacists) Book Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a second-year doctor of pharmacy student who plans to pursue a career in hospital pharmacy. Spencer S. Glenn Memorial Scholarship This scholarship recognizes the superior pursuits of a doctor of pharmacy student with a record of clinical research abilities and academic achievement was established. Selection preference is given to married students who are U.S. citizens and Missouri residents. Glenski Family Scholarship An award is presented to a doctor of pharmacy student in years two through four of the professional pharmacy curriculum who has maintained a cumulative School of Pharmacy GPA of 3.0. The student must be involved in extracurricular activities with a community service emphasis. Preference will be given to a student who has a family member in the health-care profession or is a UMKC alumnus. Good Neighbor Pharmacy Community Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a P3 or P4 pharmacy student with preference made to applicants who have a demonstrated interest for community pharmacy and plans to practice in either Missouri or Kansas following graduation. A letter of reference for each student applicant from a local community or independent pharmacist will be required as a part of the student s scholarship application. Travis & Maqual Graham Scholarship One student scholarship will be disbursed each year to a 3rd or 4th year student in the School of Pharmacy who is interested in obtaining clinical post-doctoral training, who is in good academic standing and is involved in community healthcare initiatives. Student must also be eligible to receive financial aid in the current academic year. Donald W. Grove, Sr., R.Ph., Scholarship Two student scholarships shall be awarded to professional pharmacy students in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year. Preference shall be given to students who indicate as their first choice a career in independent/community pharmacy and who have served an internship with an independent pharmacy. It is also requested that the student applicant s letter of reference come from an independent pharmacist. George Guastello/Albers Medical Pharmacy Scholarship Shall be awarded to a student in years P2, P3 or P4 of the professional program who is interested in pursuing a career in independent pharmacy. Priority of this scholarship should be awarded to a current pharmacy student employed by Albers Medical Pharmacy or any of its affiliate pharmacies. If no student from any of these locations applies for the scholarship, then the remaining conditions should be used to determine the winning applicant. Financial need shall be taken into consideration. Harvey H. Haynes Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a third-year student planning to work in an independent pharmacy in a rural area with a population less than 10,000. Financial need is not a consideration. Bruce J. Bud Huber Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is for a doctor of pharmacy student in years one through four who has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and documented involvement in extracurricular activities in the area of service. Priority should be given to a pharmacy technician or intern of Express Pharmacy, or to an older, returning student. Financial need is considered. Kappa Epsilon Community Services Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded each year to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to a pharmacy student who is a member of Kappa Epsilon in good standing. A letter of reference for each applicant from a pharmacist is required as part of the student s scholarship application. Scholarship award recipients will be determined by the dean of the School of Pharmacy and his/her assigned committee, with selection input from the Kappa Epsilon chapter advisor. Dr. Deborah and Paul Kavanaugh Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student demonstrating high financial need. 4

5 Michael Ketchmark Scholarship This scholarship recognizes the high reputation of the UMKC School of Pharmacy for practicing in an ethical manner and attracting students who will do the same in their careers. Preference shall be given to a doctor of pharmacy student demonstrating leadership and who may have family members with significant health issues. Kilgore Pharmacy Scholarship The recipient of this scholarship program must be in the high category for financial aid. The recipient must be enrolled in the UMKC School of Pharmacy at MU doctor of pharmacy program. Preference shall be given to students who graduated high school in Boone, Cole, Moniteau, Cooper, Howard, Randolph, Audrain or Callaway counties in Missouri. Rocky & Laurie Levell Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to two doctor of pharmacy students who are eligible to receive financial aid and are in good standing academically. Each student should demonstrate a compassionate attitude toward others and be involved in extracurricular activities in the community. Preference will be given to students with an interest in geriatric care who plan to practice in an independent or community pharmacy upon graduation. Lindman-Gershman Scholarship This scholarship is for a student in the doctor of pharmacy program with financial need. Monica E. Manasseh Scholarship Scholarship shall be awarded each year to a professional pharmacy student in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year and in good academic standing. Preference shall be given to a minority student who is an active member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacists (AMCP) chapter with a demonstrated interest in a career in managed care or hospital pharmacy following graduation. A letter of reference for each student applicant from a pharmacist will be required as part of the student s scholarship application with preference that the letter be written by Dr. Fredrick Manasseh or his designee. Alexander and Mary Margolis and Bernard A. Margolis Perpetual Memorial Fund This scholarship is for a worthy pharmacy student enrolled in years one through four of the professional program who has financial need. Kathy McClary Fife Memorial Scholarship First preference for this scholarship shall be to a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year pharmacy student who is selected to attend the Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies Conference held annually in Salt Lake City, UT. Second preference shall be given to a student who has taken the School of Pharmacy elective course, Introduction to Drug Abuse. Mitzi McGee Memorial Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a female doctor of pharmacy student in her who is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to applicants who are married and returning to school as an older student, who may have held a job during her academic career, and has exhibited excellence in both her academic career and in her own life. Consideration may also be given to a female student who is actively involved in the profession of pharmacy, especially with issues that affect women pharmacists; and/or a female student considering a career with a community independent pharmacy following graduation. J. Leo McMahon Grant This scholarship is awarded to a second-year professional year student who represents the caring and professional attitudes of J. Leo McMahon. Joe McNerney Pharmacy Leadership Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a female pharmacy student with demonstrated leadership skills. Stephanie and Russell Melchert Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student who is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to an applicant who has demonstrated leadership through extracurricular pharmacy programs or volunteer work. Additional consideration shall be given to a student seeking a career in higher education or pharmacy academia. 5

6 Missouri Pharmacy Foundation Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a third-year doctor of pharmacy student who is a Missouri resident. The recipient should be on track with his or her class and have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 during the first two years of the pharmacy program. The recipient should be planning on a career in Missouri and have demonstrated involvement in his or her community. Missouri Small Community Practice Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year that has a demonstrated need for financial support. Preference shall also be given to a student either coming from or planning to return to a town in Missouri with a population of less than 20,000 people and who is interested in practicing independent (community) pharmacy following their graduation. Mitchell s Drug Stores Scholarship Preference for a student planning a career with an independent pharmacy; has served an internship with an independent pharmacy with letter of reference comes from an independent pharmacist. First preference given to a student currently enrolled in the UMKC School of Pharmacy program in Springfield, MO. Tim Mitchell Medical Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to an active NCPA student member in their second, third, or fourth professional year. The student must be in good standing. Timothy G. Mitchell Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a second-, third-, or fourth-year pharmacy student in good academic and professional standing. The student must have a stated career interest in community pharmacy with preference to those with interest in independent pharmacy. MMSHP (Mid-Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists) Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a student in the UMKC School of Pharmacy program located on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus based on a points system. Points are assigned by the following criteria: a student who is a member of the Missouri Society of Health- Systems Pharmacists; student is presently employed by a heath-systems pharmacy; student is a high school graduate of Boone, Cole, Cooper or Callaway counties in the state of Missouri; student is currently a Missouri resident and student should be in the high need category for financial aid. Student may re-apply and receive the award for more than one year. MMSHP (Mid-Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists )/Lawrence G. Windmoeller Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a student in UMKC School of Pharmacy satellite program with the following criteria: a. Student is a member of the Missouri Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists b. Student is presently employed by a health-systems pharmacy c. Student is a high school graduate of Boone, Cole, Cooper or Callaway counties in the state of Missouri d. Student is currently a Missouri resident e. The student should be in the high need category for financial aid. Students may fit more than one of these criteria; if so, they are then added together. Example: the student is from Columbia, Mo., works at a health-system pharmacy, and is a member of MSHP; they would then qualify for criteria (a), (b) and (c) listed above. NACDS (National Association of Chain Drug Stores) Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a pharmacy student who intends to pursue a career in chain community pharmacy practice following graduation. Financial need is taken into consideration. Jim Newman Memorial Scholarship A stipend is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in years two through four who has financial need. Preference is given to a student from Joplin or Southwest Missouri. 6

7 Norman Family Community Pharmacy Scholarship Shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student who is in good standing academically. Preference shall be given to a student who is planning on establishing a career in community pharmacy following graduation, either in a chain or an independent pharmacy environment. Consideration shall also be made to a student demonstrating their commitment to improving the overall health of the community through their volunteerism or pharmacy community involvement. Noel O. Nuessle, Ph.D. Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student with serious financial needs that could impact their ability to remain in School. Nyberg Pharmacy Independent Pharmacy Scholarship Shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student who is a Missouri resident. Preference is given to a student seeking a career with an independent pharmacy following graduation. William E. Osborn, R.Ph. Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in the second, third or fourth year, with preference given to a student seeking a career with an independent pharmacy following graduation and with plans to practice in Missouri or Kansas. PBA Health/TrueCare Pharmacies Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to doctor of pharmacy students in the last three years of the curriculum. Students must have a minimum of 500 intern hours in independent pharmacy and a minimum 2.5 GPA. Robert W Piepho, Ph.D. Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year who demonstrates extraordinary leadership qualities. Preference shall be given to a student who has held an elected office while in pharmacy school or has developed an innovative service project. Financial need should be taken into consideration. Amina Powell/Jay Fulce Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in the third or fourth year, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. Preference is given to a minority student who indicates as their first choice a career with a community pharmacy and who has preferably served an internship with a community pharmacy. Powers Family Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy students in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preferences shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career in independent/community pharmacy and who has served an internship with an independent pharmacy. It is also requested that the student applicant s letter of reference come from an independent pharmacist. Proctor/Boyd Family Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in their P2, P3 or P4 class year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career in independent/community pharmacy and to residents of Plattsburg, Lathrop, or Gower, MO, and/or Clinton counties in Missouri. It is also requested that the student applicant s letter of reference come from an independent pharmacist. The RAN Institute Award Awarded to a female pharmacy student who has demonstrated an interest in and documented activities of strong entrepreneurial ambitions, active involvement in UMKC athletic programs and financial need. Red Cross Pharmacy Scholarship Preference for this award will be given to a student who is: a direct descendant of Benjamin R. Hartwig; employed by Red Cross Pharmacy and/or from a Red Cross Pharmacy market area; from a town of less than 20,000 in population; or is employed by a privately held (independent) pharmacy company. Each applicant must have a letter of recommendation from a currently employed pharmacist of Red Cross Pharmacy. 7

8 Stanley M. Reinhaus Family Foundation Scholarship First-year doctor of pharmacy students with a minimum 2.75 GPA may apply for this award. Applicants must be interested in hospital or community pharmacy, be a Missouri resident and plan to work in Missouri after graduation with no plans of pursuing an advanced degree. Applicants must have financial need. The award is renewable. Toni Sena Memorial Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a student in the doctor of pharmacy program with a minimum 2.5 GPA in earnest pursuit of a pharmacy degree. Joseph G. Shalinsky Scholarship The scholarship recipient must have achieved academic success (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA), and an interest in practicing in a community pharmacy setting after graduation. Applicants significant financial need should be demonstrated. Leo Shalinsky Scholarship The recipient of the award should be a second- or third-year pharmacy student interested in practicing in a retail pharmacy. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, be involved in extracurricular activities and have financial need. Morris R. Shlensky Award This scholarship is for pharmacy students demonstrating financial need or high scholastic achievement. William & Carole Sitland Scholarship One student scholarship will be disbursed each year to a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student at the UMKC School of Pharmacy who is eligible to receive financial aid and is in good standing academically. Preference will be made to students who demonstrate the personal characteristics of integrity, a strong work ethic, generosity of spirit and a commitment to quality in all that they do for the profession of pharmacy. Special consideration will be given to students who also demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Andrea and Dale Smith, R.Ph. Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to doctor of pharmacy students in their 1st, 2nd, or, 3rd year who are in good standing academically. Preference will be made to applicants with demonstrated leadership experience and significant financial need. Secondary preference will be made to applicants seeking a post-graduate career in independent pharmacy. A letter of reference for each student applicant from a local community or independent pharmacist will be required as a part of the student s scholarship application. Smock Family Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student that currently is in good standing, currently obtains the bulk of their academic funding through financial aid programs and who has an interest in community or independent pharmacy. Ellen and Roger Sommi Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student, with preference given to a student demonstrating financial need, or a student from the Columbia campus, or a student demonstrating leadership. Spalitto Pharmacy Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates at their first choice a career with an independent or independent chain pharmacy and who has preferable served an internship with an independence pharmacy. It is also required that the student applicant s letter of reference come from an independent pharmacist. Anthony J. Spalitto, Sr. Scholarship Awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in years one through three who has a minimum GPA of 2.5 and has expressed interest in independent community pharmacy. Financial need will be taken into consideration. 8

9 Bruce and Shirley Stocker Scholarship The applicant for this scholarship must be either a Missouri or Kansas full-time resident in years one through four of the professional pharmacy program. The applicant must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA, have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in institutional pharmacy, and be or planning to be involved in the appropriate professional pharmacy organizations (i.e., MSHP, KSHP, ASHP). Financial need will be taken into consideration. David A. Strauch, R.Ph. Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded each year to a P1, P2 or P3 student in the UMKC School of Pharmacy who demonstrates financial need, who is in good academic standing and shows evidence of leadership experience. Tishk Scholarship Awarded to a first-year professional doctor of pharmacy student with evidence of financial need. The student must have been a provisional student the year prior to receiving the award. Fred Tonnies Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student based on a point system. Points are assigned by the following criteria: a student who is a graduate of a high school in Boone County, MO; is a past or current employee at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospitals & Clinics; minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6; and financial need. Kathleen Tonnies Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student based upon a point system with points assigned by the following criteria: a student who is a graduate of a high school in Boone County, MO; is a past or current employee at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospitals and Clinics; and has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.6. Phyllis Vaughn Scholarship This scholarship will be awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in the second through fourth year of the professional pharmacy program who expresses a caring and friendly attitude towards others. Preference will be given to a student who exemplifies this attitude through involvement in extracurricular activities helping people. Financial need will be taken into consideration. Visiting Nurse Association Scholarship Preference for this scholarship will be given to a pharmacy student who is a second career student, i.e. a student who was in another career path before deciding to return to school and become a pharmacist. Students who are participating in the VNA In Home pharmacist rotation will also receive preference in scholarship selection. Walgreens Diversity Scholarship 1) One scholarship will be awarded to a student who embraces diversity and promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives on campus. 2) A second scholarship (may be awarded to one or more students) of an underrepresented minority group with an interest in community pharmacy. Wal-Mart Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a third- or fourth-year doctor of pharmacy student who has an interest in pursuing a career in community pharmacy and who has demonstrated leadership qualities and high scholastic standing. Financial need should be considered. Mathew W. Bill Wilson Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a third-year professional student whose integrity and professionalism matches that of Bill Wilson. 9

10 Robert L. Wolf, R.Ph. Memorial Scholarship This scholarship shall be awarded to a professional pharmacy student in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference shall be given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career with either an independent or independent chain pharmacy OR a career in the Public Health Service as a pharmacist. Preference will be given to a student who has served an internship with an independent pharmacy or the Public Health Service. Ray H. Zumwalt Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a doctor of pharmacy student in their third or fourth year, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. First preference is given to a student from Cedar, Vernon, Polk, Barton, Dade, Lawrence or St. Claire Counties in Missouri. Preference is also given to a student who indicates as their first choice a career with an independent or independent chain pharmacy and who has preferably served an internship with an independent pharmacy. 10
