3 INTRODUCTION This project was conducted for the North Carolina Community College Presidents Association s Professional Development Committee, as one effort to address the current and emerging leadership needs of community colleges in North Carolina. In the spring of 2010, the authors accepted the role of investigating the seventeen member institutions within the University of North Carolina System to identify graduate programs in educational leadership that might serve those aspiring to educational leadership positions within North Carolina Community Colleges. A survey was developed and sent to each institution, and where necessary, follow-up phone conversations were held. The results of this survey are being presented to the NCC Presidents Association on July 22, 2010 at their meeting in Brunswick, NC. During the meeting the authors will meet with the Association s Professional Development to consider next steps to address the current and emerging leadership needs in community colleges. This project presentation is in two sections. The first is a brief summary identifying those UNC universities that offer graduate programs in educational leadership. The second section presents detailed information on individual programs at each institution. Each program entry has seventeen items, including: contact information, degree offering, coursework, admissions requirements, location of and format for course offerings. This report reflects the data collected in the last eight months. Due to fluctuating tuition and fee structures the most current information is best obtained by direct contact with each program. The project presentation will be available through the Association s website after the July 22 meeting.
