Doctoral students must provide a brief (not to exceed 500 words) statement on how receipt of the scholarship will advance r research activities in r doctoral program. Please note that the doctoral recipient of this award must submit a short reflection paper to the Office of Special Programs by the first week of May. This paper should indicate the status of the recipient s research at that point and how the funds were used to help advance the research. D. Undergraduate modern foreign language students must use the funds to study abroad at a foreign university and provide documentation of study abroad intent. During fall of odd years, the recipient shall be an undergraduate in Foreign Language. The William and Patricia L. Preference shall be given first to junior or senior psychology majors, second to graduate psychology majors, and, finally, to junior, senior or graduate education majors at WCU (Sophomores can apply if will be a junior/senior by the following academic year. Awards are posted to student accounts the year following application) While financial need is not a prerequisite of this scholarship, this award is not intended for elite students. It is for those who are shining in spite of their circumstances. C.
