Use with F0 Series bases to provide general property protetion. The F0-5, F0-5F and F0-90F are not life safety devies..4 F0-P/-PTH/-PC/-PTHC Photoeletroni Smoke Detetors The F0P Series Detetors are UL Listed, open-area photoeletri smoke detetors that work with ommerial fire protetive signaling systems and household fire warning systems. Selet the appropriate mounting base to onfigure the detetors for two-wire or four-wire versions. For ommerial and industrial installations, 0 ft (9.4 m) spaing between detetors is reommended. To verify power to the detetor and a funtioning smoke sampling iruitry, a dual olor LED indiator flashes green every eight seonds when operating normally. It flashes one every four seonds when a trouble ondition exists. If the detetor finds an alarm ondition, the LED hanges from flashing green to steady red. The detetor returns to normal when power is interrupted and the alarm ondition lears. Throughout its normal life yle, the smoke detetor monitors and periodially readjusts itself to keep the sensitivity at its fatory alibrated level. When exessively dirty, the detetor s LED flash rate hanges from an eight seond flash rate to a four seond rate. If CleanMe is seleted, the detetor transmits a CleanMe signal to the ompatible ontrol panel to indiate a dirty smoke detetor. See Setion.5 CleanMe toggle to enable CleanMe..5 CleanMe toggle To ativate the CleanMe feature:. Plae a magnet next to the T marked on the detetor base for more than one red LED flash but less than three red LED flashes. The LED flashes green one time and proeeds into the first of two sensitivity reading displays.
3 F0 Series Installation Instrutions.0 General Information EN. When the LED flashes red, plae the magnet near the T again.. Hold the magnet against the T on the detetor base until the green LED flashes twie and the red LED repeats the sensitivity indiation. This turns on the CleanMe feature. 4. The LED flash sequene is as follows: a. single flash green LED b. double flash green LED 5. To disable CleanMe, repeat this proess and verify the double flash returns to a single flash..6 Magnet operation/sensitivity mode The F0P Series Detetors feature a unique magnet operation/sensitivity test. Test the detetor by plaing the magnet next to the T marked on the detetor base for three onseutive flashes to ause an alarm. If the magnet is there for less than three flashes and more than one flash, the detetor goes into Sensitivity Mode. Table desribes the different LED flash rates for the Sensitivity Mode. Table : Red LED flash definition.6. Normal sensitivity LED flash example (see Figure ). Enter Sensitivity Mode on the smoke detetor.. The LED flash sequene is as follows: a. three red LED flashes b. a single green LED flash (a separator). three red LED flashes d. a single green LED flash.. The detetor exits sensitivity mode and returns to one green LED flash every eight seonds. A normally operating unit flashes every eight seonds. If a detetor is in a trouble ondition due to a dirty lens or a sensor malfuntion, it single or double flashes every four seonds, and the CleanMe trouble signal if enabled, is sent. If CleanMe is seleted and a non-cleanme panel monitors the detetors when the CleanMe signal is sent to the panel, it onsiders the signal an alarm..8 Eletrial supervision When the F0-B6 Series Bases are properly installed, tamper protetion is provided by IN/OUT wiring of the positive power line. The ontrol panel initiates a trouble signal when a detetor is removed from its base. The ontrol panel supervises two-wire systems. An EOL power supervision devie, suh as an D75 or an F0-B6E Power Supervision Base and an EOL resistor as speified by the ontrol panel manufaturer, supervises a four-wire system. 4 5 F0-P Photoeletri smoke detetor only, requires base. Chek the wiring from the ontrol panel to the last head on eah run for proper polarity and ontinuity.. Make sure eah run terminates with an EOL resistor as speified by the ontrol panel manufaturer.. Make sure four-wire runs terminate at EOL Modules or F0-B6E bases. 4. Apply power to the system. Chek for alarms and troubles. 5. Note whih detetors alarmed (if any), and shut down the system. 6. Remove these detetors from their bases and rehek the bases for proper wiring. 7. If the problem persists, determine if the problem is aused by the detetor or the base. 8. Replae the affeted detetors or swap them with known good units. 9. If a system alarm ours with no detetor alarms present, remove all detetors and hek the wiring at eah base. 0. Closely hek the wiring of eah EOL resistor and EOL module.. When the system is alarm free, hek eah detetor to ensure that the green LED indiator flashes approximately every eight seonds. This verifies the detetor is reeiving power and operating properly.. Test eah detetor to ensure it auses a ontrol panel alarm. Reset the ontrol panel after eah test. To alarm the F0-5/5F/90F Detetors either: Plae a magnet horizontally against the T and hold it there for three onseutive LED flashes (see Figure, #4). This ativates an internal reed swith thereby sending an alarm signal. or Expose the thermistor (see Figure, #) to a heat soure suh as a hair dryer or a shielded heat lamp. Expose the thermistor until the detetor alarms and the alarm LED lights. To alarm the F0-P/PTH/PC/PTHC Detetors either:. Plae a magnet horizontally against the T and hold it there for three onseutive LED flashes (see Figure, #4). This ativates an internal reed swith thereby sending an alarm signal. or Use a UL Listed aerosol smoke detetor tester to simulate an alarm. Follow the instrutions provided with the aerosol smoke detetor tester. When a detetor alarms, the red LED indiator ativates and lathes into the ON position. Clear the alarm before proeeding to the next detetor.. Reset the detetor by momentarily removing power.. Chek the load on the alarm loop by measuring the voltage aross eah EOL resistor. This voltage should equal or exeed the minimum speified by the ontrol panel manufaturer. 6. CO detetor testing Removing the detetor or resetting the detetor s power plaes the detetor in a speial test mode for the next 5 minutes. If over 5 ppm of CO is applied to the detetor within this 5-minute period, the detetor alarms. The F0PC and F0PTHC detet CO as a omponent of a fire. Do not use the F0PC and F0PTHC as CO detetors. If the heat detetor LED flashes at a four seond rate, the detetor is either old, out of sensitivity range, or defetive. If the smoke detetor LED flashes at a four seond rate the detetor is out of sensitivity range or defetive.
11 F0 Series Installation Instrutions 7.0 Maintenane EN 7.0 Maintenane Notify all onerned parties before any maintenane or testing of the fire alarm system, and after ompletion of these ativities. At least one a year vauum or lean/dry the external part of the detetor with ompressed air. Pay partiular attention to the sreens in dusty areas or heavy inset ativity. To lean the hamber, use a an of lean ompressed air. Plae the tube or needle valve through the ChamberMaid valve in the bottom of the detetor (see Figure, #5). Shorten the plasti tube that omes with the ompressed air to about in (5 m). The ompressed air (suh as TECHSPRAY ENVI-RO-TECH DUSTER) is available at offie and alarm supply stores. Do not paint the detetors. Paint or other foreign matter overing the thermistor or LED an prohibit detetion. 9.0 Visual hek These detetors inludes the Chamber Chek Automati Trouble Indiator, whih verifies that the detetor s alibration is within the fatory listed range. You an meet the NFPA guidelines for sensitivity testing by visually inspeting the detetor and heking the flash rate of the LED. If the alibration is out of range for more than 4 hours, the green LED on the detetor begins to flash approximately one every four seonds. The LED flashes approximately one every eight seonds when the detetor operates normally. Perform the visual hek before resetting power. After a reset the trouble indiators lear for 70 seonds. After 70 seonds, if the detetor is in a trouble ondition, trouble indiations begin again 8.0 Periodi testing Keeping the detetor alibrated is neessary for proper operation. Depending on loal regulations, alibration testing an be required more than one a year. NFPA 7 reommends performing alibration tests at installation, then every other year. Perform funtional testing yearly. Notify all onerned parties before any maintenane or testing of the fire alarm system, and upon ompletion of these ativities. Test the alibration (to meet NFPA) using either the magnet test or measuring the alibration with a alibrated produt from No Climb Produts Ltd. Quikly determine the alibration by a visual inspetion of the detetor s LED (see Setion 9.0 Visual hek). These tests onfirm whether or not the detetor is within its fatory marked alibration range.
