Chewey - 2 Academic/Teaching Experience Assistant Professor and Coordinator, School Nurse Certification Program - Health Sciences Department, College of Professional Studies, New Jersey City University, Jersey City, New Jersey (2003 to Present) Coordination Responsibilities Developed, implemented, and maintain a graduate level school nurse certification program (2006) available at two locations (Jersey City & Wall Higher Education Center). Developed, implemented, and maintain the only completely online School Nurse Certification Program in the State of NJ, and one of only three in the country. Advise approximately graduate school nurse certification students each semester Program assessment with regard to National Standards of Professional Practice and New Jersey State Board of Education requirements. Revised undergraduate and post baccalaureate school nurse certification programs and led them through a successful accreditation process by the New Jersey Department of Education, Higher Education Quality Initiatives (2005) Ongoing collaboration with the College of Education on the Field Experience Committee, and National Accreditation through NCATE & TEAC. Coordination and maintenance of Practicum (Capstone course) including student placement, assignment of university supervisors, communication with cooperating teachers, documentation, assessment, and evaluation. Arrangement for placement of students in school districts throughout the state for the practicum (capstone) experience (Involves students/per semester) Recruitment, orientation and supervision of 10 adjunct faculty that serve as University Supervisors for students in the practicum setting Development of on-line courses and curriculum to address the needs of students in isolated areas of New Jersey and beyond seeking school nurse certification programs. Developed and manage the New Jersey School Nurse Listserve through the university ITS department, with currently over 1400 certified school nurses and school nurse students as subscribers since Recruited, initiated and maintain a School Nurse Advisory Board consisting of 10 diverse and renowned experts in the field to compliment and guide ongoing program decisions. Developed, with the help of the advisory board, a strategic plan for the School Nurse Certification Program that includes a Mission Statement, Vision, Goals and Objectives Alignment of courses and curriculum to meet graduate higher education and disciplinary school nurse and health educator competencies, in light of program vision, mission and goals. Marketing of the School Nurse Certification Program including, development of brochures and print advertisements, exhibition at key conferences and conventions, and regularly scheduled open houses both on the main campus and at the New Jersey Coastal Communiversity. Maintain strong support of alumni as stakeholders through liaison position with the School Nurse Honor Society and yearly recognition of Distinguished School Nurse Alumni Award at the NJEA Convention in Atlantic City. Organize School Nurse Honor Society Induction Dinner/Student Showcase in May every year. Develop, organize and plan large-scale workshops/conferences for school nurse professional development throughout the state. 2
