Background Information Tom Hull will present an overview of the Information Technology Services and the Strategic Technology Plan. Strategic Technology Plan Summary Goals Create the essential teaching-learning environments, systems, network, and software portfolio necessary to run the University by August Be very efficient and parsimonious with budget for technology. Think entrepreneurially. Be innovative with technology. Provide dynamic and open technology services with high-capacity to students, faculty, and staff. Use IT Governance for decision making. Mission The Division of ITS provides technology, services, leadership, consulting and innovative ideas and experiences to enable the University to achieve the Strategic Plan. Vision ITS aspires to create an environment of modern technology, software, and services that excites the Florida Poly University community. The student experience will be enhanced by our application of emerging technology for teaching, learning, research and administrative capabilities for the University. FPU ITS will advance the STEM educational landscape and create technology-rich experiences with the innovative use of real world solutions. Select few major technology items remain during Teach Out Schedule. Campus Software License plans and needs for Adobe Suite and individual licenses. The ITS Strategic Plan has been drafted with mission, vision, values, Academic Technology, Administrative Computing, User Services, Technology Services, Information Security. Engaged 3 rd Party Tech review for campus IST setup and master planning. Currently use Elephant and are assessing the best timeframe to convert to MS Office 365. Also assessing partner implications and possible deal. Major partnership with Microsoft has been created for Phase I. Apple partnership, account and Phase I plan has been developed. Google software and services plan for Phase I has been developed. Major project to properly plan for IST classroom technology with faculty engagement, contracted vendor involvement and quoting process. 6 Acquire Xitracs Software SACS Accreditation software system has been planned and acquired. Integrate with SIS CAMS Software is being used now. Automated integration is in process. Plan Curriculog Acquire Curriculog Software Course Catalog software has been planned and acquired. Integrate with SIS CAMS Software is being used now. Automated integration is in process. Plan Course Evaluations for Faculty and IR Blue Software or LMS Software for course evaluations is in planning/evaluation stage. Learning Management System Engage Faculty and Pilot Faculty and ITS are engaged and working together on LMS Pilot. Evaluate Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Emphasis is now on Instructure CAMS Canvas system which has been installed and setup. Acquire and Implement LMS Negotiating with Instructure on licensing. Poly Survey and Web Form Software Programming sub-projects that will create a Paperless environment for Student Services, Administration, and Academic Affairs. Plan/Setup Academic High Performance Computing Currently planning the design/architecture of the supercomputer HPC environment which will also act as a student data center. Negotiating with IBM, HP, and Lenovo. Plan/Setup Academic Data Center Currently planning all environmentals for location in IST for student data center. Administrative Computing Plan SIS Engage, Implement, Software System The acquisition was completed in October and all of the servers, racks, storage, databases, and web services was implemented in November and December. Training and Usage of CAMS Training commenced during week of December 17 th. Will be ongoing through Spring semester timeframe. SalesForce CRM and CAMS Integrate SalesForce/CAMS Major project to integrate the students information from CRM to SIS system. This has been initiated and is in progress. Design and Integrate Floridapoly domain Major project that defines the University Microsoft domain with servers, storage, shared drives and future student services and support. Scheduling System for Campus Select, Acquire, Software Currently evaluating leading software systems for the important need for campus and course scheduling. 7 Implement Scheduling Software Designing Data Warehouse Portal-Enterprise Design/Dev. Will be performed as soon as selection is made. Data Warehouse has been high level designed will be architected, project chartered and implemented. Determine ERP Charter The ERP charter is being evaluated by leadership. User Services Plan and Setup Helpdesk Define SLA and Policies ITS Helpdesk has been defined and will be implemented with a common campus phone number, service queues are all of campus departments (unique), and staffing. Implement Helpdesk PTRS Select and perform the implementation of the Helpdesk tracking and reporting/response system. Determine Desktop/Mobile/Print Standard Currently evaluating the top industry vendors for the important standard for desktop/mobile from HP, Lenovo, Samsung. Setup Helpdesk Service Center This is the IST location setup and environment for the University Helpdesk. Plan and Setup Poly A.D. and Mobile Access Setup Web User Service Center This includes planning, design and setup of remote computer, online access, and user services to students, faculty, staff. Plan, Acquire, User Software This includes the entire portfolio of needed software for administration, academics, students/faculty/staff needs. Phase 2 Planning Phase 2 Currently performing additional planning and documentation to add to the strategic technology plan.
