3 California State Universities (CSU) Apply to each campus separately using one online application and pay for each campus separately : $55 each Online application for fee waiver (up to 4 schools) Apply as an undergraduate for Fall 2015 REQUIREMENTS Coursework (A-G) Entrance Exams: SAT or ACT Minimum GPA: 2.0 Most campuses are impacted and require students to apply within the priority filing period, October 1 November 30 EOP program available for disadvantaged or low income students, fill in family size/dependents correctly, include yourself & parents in family size

5 What Makes a CSU Campus Selective? Campus Impaction: A campus receives more eligible applications in the initial filing period than there are enrollment spaces available for the class level (freshman or upper division transfer). Campuses fall into 3 categories: Admit using CSU eligibility Campus impaction (freshman/transfer) Impacted in all programs (all majors)

6 Program/Major Impaction Program Impaction: A campus receives more eligible applications for a specific undergraduate program in the initial filing period than there are enrollment spaces available. Most campuses have at least one impacted major/program Typically impacted at upper-division level Students must meet criteria such as GPA in specific core/major prep courses, cumulative GPA, or a combination of factors

13 College Admission Tests SAT : (upcoming test dates: Nov. & Dec.) -Use code #3594 when requesting SAT score reports through CollegeBoard. This will submit student SAT scores to ALL CSU campuses. One and done! Save $$ - SAT Score Choice is not recommended if you are taking the Dec. test date. Scores will be sent too late! ACT : (upcoming test date Dec.) -Submit student ACT scores to one CSU campus, then use the ACT Scores Manager to release to all campuses. Save $$

Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fee, without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by The Board of Trustees.

16 Financial Aid Impact Last year, over $3.8 billion was distributed to more than 319,000 students. Nearly 76% of all CSU students receive some form of financial assistance. 57% of all students have full cost of tuition covered by grants, scholarships or waivers. The average loan debt for CSU students was $18,460 in 2012, compared with the national average of $24,443

17 Financial Aid Updates Middle Class Scholarship ( aid year) Students with family incomes less than $150,000 that do not already have fees covered may be eligible for a Middle Class Scholarship. Requirements: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or AB 540 criteria; California resident; maintain a 2.0 GPA; meet certain income and other financial aid requirements/standards; attend CSU or UC campus. Application submission begins in January p.pdf California Dream Act Eligible students must complete the CA Dream Application, NOT THE FAFSA

18 California State Universities ELM/EPT, & Early Start All incoming Freshmen are required to take the Entry-Level Math and/or English Placement Test unless they meet the requirements for exemption: English A score of 500 or above on the critical reading section of the College Board SAT Reasoning Test A score of 22 or above on the American College Testing (ACT) English Test A score of 3 or above on either the Language and Composition or Composition and Literature examination of the College Board Scholastic Advanced Placement Program. Math A score of 550 or above on the mathematics section of the College Board SAT Reasoning Test A score of 550 or above on a College Board SAT Subject Test in Mathematics (level 1 or level 2 A score of 23 or above on the American College Testing (ACT) Mathematics Test A score of 3 or above on the College Board Advanced Placement Calculus AB or Calculus BC A score of 3 or above on the College Board Advanced Placement Statistics examination Early Start is required for incoming students who have not fulfilled the Entry Level Math and/or English Placement Test proficiency requirements. -The program takes place the summer before the freshman year. -Upon admission, CSU campuses will inform students how and where to sign up for Early Start. -Early Start math and English courses will be available at every CSU campus, at a few community colleges, and online.

19 Important Deadlines: Admission Deadlines: CSU- Apply October 1-November 30 Send official SAT/ACT test scores to universities no later than the December test date. *Please check to make sure, as there may be some universities that specify last date to test as November.
