1 Product description 1/12 What is it? Front and rear parking assistance system with an anti-bump alert to protect your vehicle against the all too often clumsy parking manoeuvres of other motorists in a hurry. You can leave your parked vehicle without worry, the anti-bump functionality detects vehicles that come too close to your car and gives off signals to encourage drivers to pay extra attention when manoeuvring. How does it work? 1) Parking assistance 8 ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles at the front and rear of the vehicle. All obstacles are detected and announced by a sound that gradually intensifies as the obstacle approaches, becoming continuous within 30 cm. The distance and position of obstacles are shown on a dash-mounted screen. 2) Protection for the parked vehicle When the vehicle is parked with the engine off, the system's alternating sensors permanently detect the movement of approaching vehicles at the front and rear. Whenever a vehicle comes within 1 meter of the bumper, the visual and audible alerts are activated in stages, encouraging the other motorist to take extra care when parking. The alert system switches off once the other vehicle is parked. To see whether this product can be installed on the vehicle, you must first check: The bumper s height, to ensure that rear sensors are between 45 and 65 cm from the ground and front sensors are between 45 and 55 cm from the ground. The distance between the sensors, which must be a maximum of 45 cm. Check also that the bumper reinforcement bar does not hinder drilling. The vehicle s length, which must not exceed 5 metres. Soldering iron As the battery must be disconnected during installation, some data may be lost (radio station settings, vehicle locking code, etc) 1. Preparing for installation Before installing the system, check that the product can be installed at the vehicle s front and rear: Vehicle length < 5 metres Bumper height between 45 and 65 cm (rear) and between 45 and 55 cm (front) Bumper reinforcement bar must not hinder drilling Sensor angle: max. +/- 5 from perpendicular Depending on the bumper s design, you must sometimes add the following: Angle correction rings for installation around the sensors to obtain the proper angle (included in kit) Insulating rings for metal bumpers (which can cause sensor vibration), available as spare parts. Check with your dealer for details. Check that the reversing lights, indicators and horn work properly. Check that you can drill without damaging wiring, modules or other components at the points where you will install the sensors. In some cases, you must remove the bumper to see what is behind it. This avoids any risk of damage being caused by drilling.

Installing the REAR sensors Determine and mark the sensor positions on the rear bumper: Ensure they are all between 45 and 65 cm from the ground Position the outermost sensors between 15 and 20 cm from the sides of the vehicle s bodywork Spread the sensors along the bumper, positioning them no more than 45 cm apart Ensure they are angled no more than +/- 5 from the perpendicular. If necessary, use the angle correctors Using the drilling tool included in the kit, drill holes for the 4 sensors at the appropriate positions Pass the sensors wiring from the interior of the boot under the bumper ready for connecting the sensors Insert the 4 sensors into the bumper s holes, ensuring that each is installed with the arrow (UP ) pointing upwards Connect and screw-fasten sensors to the wiring Follow the sequence A B C D (shown on the label), where A is the leftmost sensor in the bumper and D is the rightmost sensor Bind together all of the wiring with adhesive tape and the cerflex clips included in the kit. A B C D Pass the cable s end connector towards the front of the vehicle, for connecting to the ECU near to the pedals Conceal the wiring harness under the door pillar insulation, on the driver s side of the vehicle

Installing the FRONT sensors Determine the sensors position in the front bumper in the same way: Ensure they are all between 45 and 55 cm from the ground Position the outermost sensors between 15 and 20 cm from the sides of the vehicle s bodywork Position the sensors on the bumper as shown in the following diagram Ensure they are angled no more than +/- 5 from the perpendicular. If necessary, use angle correctors H > 45 cm H < 55 cm 38 cm < W1 < 45 cm 50 cm < W2 < 76 cm W1 W2 W1 Using the drilling tool included in the kit, drill holes for the 4 sensors at the appropriate positions Pass the sensors' wiring under the front bumper ready for connecting the sensors Insert the 4 sensors into the bumper s holes, ensuring that each is installed with the arrow (UP ) pointing upwards H G F E Connect and screw sensors to the wiring Follow the sequence E F G H (shown on the label), where E is the rightmost sensor in the bumper and H is the leftmost sensor Bind together all of the wiring with adhesive tape and the cerflex clips included in the kit. Pass the wiring harness into the cabin, near to the pedals, for connection later

Locating the electrical connections Using the multimeter, locate the vehicle s various outputs: Output Reversing light Indicators control Horn control Ground Permanent + Battery + Generally accessed At the rear lighting unit or fuse block At the control stalk or fuse block At the control stalk, steering wheel or fuse block Any point of the vehicle s chassis At the fuse block At the fuse block 5. Electrical connections Test to ensure that they are the right signals: during operation, the multimeter must display +12V On some multiplexed vehicles (e.g. PSA), the horn output cannot be retrieved in the cabin you must connect to the horn directly in the engine compartment. Disconnect the battery: Switch off the engine first. Wait for 2 minutes before you disconnect the battery, to give the vehicle s computers sufficient time to power off completely. Connect the ECU s power cable as follows: Red wire : to permanent + Pink wire : either to + 12V, or to the ground (1) Black wire : to the horn control you located Brown wire : to the indicators control you located Connect the white connector to the ECU (1) To find out whether the pink wire must be connected to the +12V connector or the ground: Using the multimeter, check whether the horn's control signal is + or -: Connect the multimeter to the ground and the horn signal you located. If the multimeter displays +12V when the horn sounds, the horn s control signal is + connect the pink wire to +12V Connect the multimeter to + and the horn signal you located. If the multimeter displays +12V when the horn sounds, the horn s control signal is - connect the pink wire to the ground

Electrical connections (continued) Connect the on/off switch + wiring harness Red wire : to permanent + Yellow wire : to the reversing light Pink wire : to battery + Last cable : to the ground Connect the white connector to the ECU Finally, connect the sensors front and rear wiring to the ECU, ensuring that the lettered connectors A B C D E F G H are connected correctly. Connection diagram : + - Red Black Yellow Pink Brown On certain vehicles equipped with an onboard computer, an error message may be generated when the system is connected to the turn indicators (the connection is interpreted as a fault). In this case, you must add an anti-feedback diode to the connection.

Installing the switch, display and ECU Place the switch in an unobtrusive position easily accessible to the driver For a cleaner installation, use the drilling tool included in the kit to drill an unobtrusive switch installation hole easily, e.g. under the steering wheel, on the left side of the central column Position the display on the dashboard so that the driver s view is not obstructed Attach it using the adhesive pad on its base Conceal the display s cable in the door pillar for added discretion Position the ECU under the dashboard Ideally, it should be located under a cover under the steering wheel to protect it from impacts Attach the ECU using the adhesive pad or the cerflex clips included in the kit. 7. Start-up Reconnect the battery and switch on the engine again: On multiplexed vehicles, wait for 1 minute before switching on the engine, to ensure that the vehicle's computers are reinitialized properly. Check that the following are working correctly: Reversing lights Horn Turn indicators and hazard lights

Park Assist function operating test Check that the sensors are working 1) When the engine is switched on, the system tests the 4 front sensors automatically; if all of the sensors are working, no warning is triggered. 2) Select reverse gear. The system tests the 4 rear sensors and the two outermost front sensors (E and H) automatically: If all of the sensors are working, the system beeps once. If there is a problem with any of the sensors, the system beeps 3 times. The position and number of faulty sensors is displayed on the screen. Check that the display switches on when reverse gear is selected Now place an obstacle near to each front and rear sensor Check that the audible warning is activated. Check that the beeps intensify as you move the obstacle closer to each sensor. Check that the distance between the sensor and the obstacle is displayed on the screen, at the left or right side of the screen depending on the obstacle s position. Towing hook initialization process: If the vehicle is fitted with a towing hook, you must initialize the system as follows: Within 10 seconds, select reverse gear 5 times in succession so that the obstacle is recorded as a permanent object. When reverse gear is selected for the first time, the towing system must be detected (beep, beep, beep). Reverse gear can then be selected again 4 times in succession.

10 10/12 9. Anti-bump alert function operating test While the vehicle is stationary, the anti-bump alert function sounds for 2 minutes when the engine is switched off. To prevent the system being triggered by passing pedestrians, the alert is triggered only when 2 alternate sensors have detected an obstacle (sensors 1 and 3, or 2 and 4) Gradually move a large obstacle towards the vehicle (to simulate a second vehicle approaching) Check that the alert is working correctly at the following 3 levels: Approaching vehicle Alert action 1) 1m to 50 cm Hazard lights flash twice 2) 50 to 40 cm Hazard lights flash twice + horn beeps once 3) < 30 cm Hazard lights flash 4 times + horn blows (longer) once Perform the same test at the front of the vehicle The audible alert (horn) can be deactivated at any time with the switch

11 11/12 Recommendations After installation PARK ASSIST FUNCTION: The volume of the beeps can be adjusted on the display. The display s position on its base can be adjusted. Replacement sensors are available in the event of damage. ANTI-BUMP ALERT FUNCTION: The system is not activated when the approaching vehicle is fitted with an assisted parking system itself, which already helps it to park more safely. The system is not activated when pedestrians or animals approach the vehicle. You can deactivate the anti-bump function s sound signal (horn) at any time, using the on/off switch located under the dashboard Activation of distances and the audible alert (Park Assist): Sensor detection area: 1 m (front), 1.80 m (rear) Distances displayed on the screen: 30 cm to 90 cm (front), 1.70 m to 30 cm (rear) Progressively increasing beep intensity: FRONT REAR Continuous beep + STOP displayed: < 30cm Anti-bump alert levels:

12 12/12 Troubleshooting After installation????? The display does not switch on following installation: Check that the display's power connection is connected properly. Check that the vehicle's engine has been switched on and reverse gear is selected. Check that the system is wired correctly. Information is displayed on the screen when reverse gear is not selected Check that the ECU's power cable is connected to the reversing light s signal. The display indicates that a sensor is faulty: Check that the surface of each sensor is clean. Check that the sensors wires are properly connected to the ECU. Check the condition of the sensors wiring. The object's position does not match the indicator displayed on the screen: Check that the sensor wires are connected to the ECU in the correct order (labelled ABCDEFGH). A distance is displayed and/or a sound signal goes off when there is no obstacle at the rear of the vehicle: Check that the sensors are not too low (installation height) or point towards the ground (installation angle).
