1 Hotel Accessibility Pack Thank you for choosing to stay at the Hilton Cardiff. We are pleased to give you some information about our hotel that you may find useful when planning your stay. Arriving at the hotel Should you use the main entrance to the hotel, to the right hand side there is an access ramp and a glass automatic floor. After 11pm each night we lock the front doors for security reasons. However, our front desk is manned 24 hours a day and there is a doorbell located to the right hand side of the automatic door. Should you wish to bring your car with you during your stay, outside the main entrance to our hotel there is an official drop off point for your car where our concierge team will assist you with your luggage and park your car in our own hotel secure car park In you need help with luggage, equipment or any guidance, our team of porters and concierge are on duty 24 hours a day. Their desk is located on your right hand side as you enter the hotel. Reception The main reception desk is located to the right hand side of the concierge desk. There are no steps in the main lobby area; however, there are two pillars. The two pillars are located in front of the reception and the lifts. Costa is located to the right hand side of the reception desk and the Metropole Lounge and Razzi Restaurant is located on the opposite the reception. The floor in the main lobby area is made of marble. From the reception, the lifts are in the middle of the foyer The main reception desk itself is 1.1 metre high. However, if you ask a member of staff they will provide any help you need. If you need a large print copy of the registration card at check in, we can provide this. Other services If you want to order a newspaper to receive in your room on every morning of your stay, please contact the reception team. You can also set up a wakeup call with either the reception team at check in or in your room using the alarm clock on the bedside table. Every guest room has a guest directory that contains information about the facility in the hotel. For extra help to use this directory, please contact the reception desk. Toilet Facilities There are three sets of public toilets located in the hotel. The first in located on the ground floor and immediately to your right when you enter the hotel. This is an accessible toilet. The second is located downstairs past the steam bar in the foyer. First go through the main atrium bearing left. On the right hand side there is signs for the toilets. Go through the first door and take the second left. Follow the stairs to the right to the toilets. These toilets are not accessible toilets. Another accessible toilet is located on the first floor. You can reach them by taking the main lifts in the foyer to the first floor. The accessible toilets are located past the business centre. Hilton Hotel Accessibility Pack Page 1

2 Getting around the hotel All lifts have an announcements system to let you know what floor you are on an d there is brail one each of the floor buttons at the regulation heights on 1070 mm from the lift floor Both lifts have A5 sized adverts for hotel facilities. Costa Coffee You can access Costa via the main lobby. There is a single large glass pull door when entering the steam bar from the main lobby. There is also a side entrance via the alleyway which links to Queen Street. This entrance however, is not accessible. Razzi Restaurant & Metropole Lounge You can access the Metropole Lounge & Razzi Restaurant via the main lobby on the ground floor opposite the reception desk. There is a large glass pull door to the entrance of the Razzi restaurant. The bar area has marble floor and the restaurant has wooden flooring. Living Health Club The hotel has a health club which is located on the second floor. To access living well take the lift to the second floor, the entrance to LivingWell is opposite room 224 The club is manned regularly by trained members of staff and thee are surveillance cameras which are monitored by the reception desk in the health club. There is wooden flooring in the gym. The changing rooms are to the left and right hand side of the reception desk. Female to the left and male is to the right. The changing rooms have a shower cubicle, with a step into them and a toilet. There is also a small curtained changing area. Gym Equipment: Four running machines Two up right cycling machines Two reclining cycling machines One hand bike Two rowing machines Two step machines Three cross trainers One chest press One shoulder press One multi weight machine Two lower body weight machine One cable column machine And an exercise area and a free weight area The machines are in front of the windows that have internal views of the atrium and the swimming pool.there is also an aisle between them and the exercise mats and the free weights area. 3 The Business centre The business centre is located on the first floor in the hotel once you have taken the lifts to the first floor turn tight and go through the double doors. There meeting area is to your right and the internet lounge is to the left through a glass floor. The business centre is carpeted throughout. There is a reception desk located in the business centre. This is only manned during the week day working hours. If there is no one up in the business centre and you require assistance then please dial 0 from the telephone on the reception desk. The internet lounge has two large desks with PCs. There is a charge to access the internet. The internet cards can be purchased from the main reception desk Conference Facilities The Hilton Cardiff has 6 meeting rooms. The Castle and Friary, situated on the ground floor, form the Ballroom, behind the main lifts. The Bute, Roath, Sophia and Victoria and located on the first floor All the meetings rooms are carpeted and can be fitted with an at your service call button should you require any assistance. The hire of audio visual equipment can be arranged prior to your event; please inform the conference & Events sales agent when making your bookings. The dimension of the rooms, location of the power points and telephones can be seen on the floor plans The Ballroom It is situated on the ground floor, at the rear of the lobby. To access the ballroom, proceed through reception and pass alongside the steam bar. On the left side entry of the ballroom is the entrance to the Friary Suite and the right is the entrance to the Castle Suite. There is a private bar situated outside of the ballroom at the left hand side. Bedrooms There are ten accessible rooms in our hotel Five are doubles bedrooms; four are double/zip up bedrooms One accessible room is a Junior Suite All the accessible rooms have wheel in shower There are two accessible rooms on the 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th floor and one accessible room on the 5 th and 6 th floors. 4 Full bedrooms specific There are no smoking accessible rooms in the hotel Bathroom facilities Handrails on both sides of the toilets Walk in shower with handrails, shower floor is a non slip surface High level toilet Emergency pull cord Low level sink The bathroom floor is tiled Easy grip handles on all taps and toilet flush Bedroom facilities Low mounted hangers in the wardrobe Low level bed Low level spy hole in the bedroom door Wider doors (85CM_ Emergency pull cod Low mount climate control panel Telephone at besides Beside control panels for the room lights Vibrating pillows when the alarm sounds Low level air conditioning controls We can add the following equipment to any rooms in the hotel for you to use In an event of an emergency If the fire alarm sounds, this will be a continuous siren like sounds In the case of a fire you must remain in your room until a staff member reaches you. They will be sent immediately and we will call your room to confirm. The staff member will knock on your door and enter using a fire access card. They will then assist you to either a refuge area or the fire assembly point. The hotel fire assembly point is located outside the entrance to Capitol Towers. If you are assisted to a refuse point further instructions will be issued from the firs coordinator to our staff member. When at the refuge point you will be assisted to the nearest lift. 5 Should you require any mobility assistance down our fire stairs, you will be transferred in a light weight evacuation chair and carried down the stair and outside to our assembly point. When outside we will transfer you again into a chair, for comfort, as we can re use the evacuation chair. The evacuation is structured to help people who are nearest the fire location. If you are moved to the lifts and have to wait, this is because you are in no immediate danger. We will evacuate in priority order from the fire areas first. In the unlikely event that the staff are unable to reach your room carefully open the door and check your exit to the refuge. If it is blocked with fire or smoked, go back into the bedroom and close the door. Your fire resistant floor will protect you for one hour. We will inform the emergency fire services as soon as they arrive of your location. Do block the door with any items, including towels; this will prevent the fire service from entering the room quickly. Do not open any windows; this can increase the air circulation to the smoke and flames If the fire is in your room please leave the room immediately and close the door behind you, breaking a call point if possible on your way out. Upon leaving your bedroom during an evacuation please do not stop to collect any personal belonging. If you need any medication please collect that and keep it safe.
