2 Welcome Welcome to the General Medical Council. We help to protect the public and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. We support them to achieve and exceed those standards, and take action when they are not met. You can find out more about how we do this on our website This leaflet gives you some information that might be helpful for your visit with us. It includes information about local travel and amenities, and what to do if there is an emergency.

3 HAMPSTEAD ROAD A4201 Getting to our London office Our London office is based at: Regent s Place, 350 Euston Road, London NW1 3JN We re open from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. To make sure we can meet your requirements, please speak to your GMC contact in advance to confirm the arrangements for your visit. Our office is based in the large, glass-fronted building. Next to the entrances of the building is an Antony Gormley statue of a man looking to the interior of the building. There are a number of organisations based in the building. A security desk servicing all organisations is on the ground floor staff on the security desk will let you up to our reception if you have an appointment, or can call to let us know you have arrived. 4 If you need any assistance or further information, please visit our reception on the second floor. Local amenities We have a hot drinks machine and water cooler in our reception area. There are also a number of sandwich shops, coffee shops and restaurants along Euston Road and in Regent s Place Plaza. The nearest supermarkets are opposite Great Portland Street station and on Hampstead Road. The nearest chemist is on Tottenham Court Road near Warren Street underground station, where you will also find a range of other shops.

5 Local transport Train The building is a short walk from Euston mainline station. King s Cross, St Pancras, Paddington and Marylebone stations are a short underground, bus or taxi journey away. Underground There are four London underground stations within easy walking distance of the office, with access to six different lines. n n n n Great Portland Street (on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines) Regent s Park (on the Bakerloo line) Warren Street (on the Victoria and Northern lines) Euston Square (on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines). The stations are all shown on the map on the first page, or you can view the tube map at uk/maps/track/tube. Bus The area is also well served by bus routes: numbers 18, 27, 30, 88, and 205. For more information about particular routes, go to gov.uk/buses. Taxi There is a dedicated taxi drop off and collection point on Longford Street. You will need to come to the front of the building on Euston Road to enter the building. Bike The nearest cycle hire docking station is a short walk from the building at the junction of Euston and Hampstead Road. Car If you are coming to the building by car, and have a pre-arranged parking space, you can access the car park by Longford Street. A security officer will ask you to sign when you arrive. We only have a limited number of parking spaces. So, if you do need to come by car, please ask your host to reserve a space before your visit.

6 Finding your way around the building Our offices are on the first and second floors of the building. Please make sure you book in with our second floor reception when you arrive. There are toilets, including a disabled toilet, on every floor. These can be found before the stairwells on either side of the lifts. Emergency procedures The fire alarm is tested every Wednesday at around 9.20 am. If an alarm sounds at any other time, or if the alarm continues to sound after a few seconds, it means that you should evacuate the building. Please leave the building by your nearest emergency exit. You can find this by following the green emergency exit signs. Once you are outside, please go immediately to our assembly point in Munster Square, which is located at the back of our building and across Longford Street. If you have an impairment that means you can t hear the alarm or need help to evacuate the building, please tell the person you are visiting. They will make sure that you have a buddy someone who will make sure that you get safely out of the building in the event of an emergency. If you or someone around you is injured or unwell and needs first aid, please ask a member of staff or call our Facilities team on 5050 using the nearest telephone. If you need an ambulance, please call 999 directly (dial 9 first for an outside line if using an office phone) and immediately tell reception or ring the Facilities team on 5050.
