1 Job Description Job Title : Department : SOX Co-ordinator Financial Control Reporting to (Job Title) : Financial Control Manager No of Direct Reports : N/A Titles of Direct Reports: N/A Size of Department: 3 Budget Responsibility (direct) : 0 Revenue Responsibility (direct) : 0 Date of issue: February 2014 Issued by (name): Ian Harris Overall Purpose of Role: As an integral member of the Financial Control team, the SOX Coordinator will support the Financial Control team in maintaining and co-ordinating Sarbanes- Oxley compliance for Carnival UK. Key responsibilities will be to partner with process owners to update and maintain process documentation / flowcharts and controls, schedule and perform SOX management testing, including understanding and analysing potential failures and progressing remediation, maintaining and updating (including the results of all testing) the internal SOX reporting system (Open Pages) and assisting with the production of periodic reporting as required. 2 Main Activities and Responsibilities Assist with the annual SOX risk based scoping process, at the account and process level; Partner with Process Owners to update and maintain process documentation / flowcharts and controls and where necessary perform walkthroughs to validate the existing SOX documentation and ensure that any changes are implemented; Identify potential SOX implications of changes in the control environment as a result of but not limited to, accounting regulations, internal company policies, system enhancements or implementations, company reorganisations; Perform management and when applicable, remediation testing of internal controls to ensure timely completion and compliance with the annual SOX test plan; Work with internal and external auditors to assist with the coordinate audit timing, results of management and remediation testing and SOX reporting; Responsible for maintaining and updating all aspects of the internal SOX reporting system (Open Pages); Assist with the production of periodic reporting and status updates as required; and Undertake ad-hoc duties as required. 3 Person Specification Job Title : SOX Co-ordinator Department : Financial Control Education, Qualifications and Training Essential: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance or 2-3 years Finance / Accounting background Desirable: Part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) / internal audit (IIA) equivalent or Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT). Experience Essential: Experience working in large company environments and / or Big 4 accounting / audit firm Desirable: 1-2 years auditing experience with exposure to Sarbanes Oxley requirements. Work Based Competencies Competencies that refer to the specific work related skills required for successful performance in the role. (e.g. technological competence, written ability, numerical ability, relevant legislative or procedural understanding, analytical ability, organisational ability and project management etc. Essential: Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills as required to communicate clearly and effectively across various levels within the organisation.
