3 MONDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2016 MONDAY 10 OCTOBER 2016 Alek Shrader Tenor Eleonora Buratto Soprano Photo: Peter Schaaf Roger Vignoles Pianist Alek Shrader is an American lyric tenor with boyish punch (The Opera Critic) and a warm lyric voice (Bachtrack). A recipient of San Francisco Opera s prestigious Adler Fellowship, Shrader has given high profile performances at the Metropolitan Opera and Salzburg Festival; he makes his Rosenblatt Recitals debut with a fascinating programme of song and opera from both sides of the Atlantic. Shrader was simply thrilling, his voice precisely vibrant and incisive. Bachtrack Shrader, with his matinee-idol good looks, had the most challenging music to sing and he negotiated the long, florid vocal lines with disarming ease, agility and a sweet, open sound. Chicago Tribune Programme includes songs and arias by Bell, Thomson, Mozart, Handel and Barber. Nazzareno Carusi Pianist A student of Luciano Pavarotti, Italian soprano Eleonora Buratto has performed under the baton of Riccardo Muti on several occasions; brightvoiced and vivacious (The New York Times), she has won international acclaim for her full high tones, outstanding dynamics and lovely pianissimi (Bachtrack). Buratto s 16/17 season includes performances at Opernhaus Zürich and the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. In the crucial role of Alice Ford, who masterminds all the intrigues and shenanigans, creamy-voiced Eleonora Buratto was outstanding. Financial Times Buratto, an Italian soprano from Mantua, is a real discovery. She has a rich and appealing voice that soars easily into the upper register. The Huffington Post Programme includes songs and arias by Rossini, Mozart, Tosti, Verdi and Puccini.

4 TUESDAY 1 NOVEMBER 2016 TUESDAY 10 JANUARY 2017 Simone Piazzola Baritone Maria Katzarava Soprano Stefano La Colla Tenor Photo: Victor Santiago Giuseppe Vaccaro Pianist Awarded 2nd prize in the 2013 Operalia competition, Simone Piazzola is an Italian baritone that displays attractive warm colours and endless vocal lines (Bachtrack). With a burgeoning reputation built upon an affinity for the heavier Verdian roles, he makes his UK debut with a programme of predominantly Italian song and opera. Simone Piazzola's baritone has a gorgeous sound, solid and full, depicting a young and impulsive Don Carlo. He wowed the audience with his tasteful phrasing, revealing a great adherence to the character and acting with authority. Bachtrack The young baritone Simone Piazzola, the production s Rodrigo, was a model of robust tone and sensitive phrasing. The New York Times Programme includes songs and arias by Tosti, Liszt, Donizetti and Gounod. Simon Lepper Pianist Mexican soprano Maria Katzarava, known for her young, fresh voice and wide tessitura (ABC), joins with Stefano La Colla, a critically renowned tenor in his home country of Italy, for the sole duo recital of the season. The two will perform a programme of French and Italian opera classics with a second half dedicated in its entirety to Giacomo Puccini. Her [Maria Katzarava s] dynamics were generous and well executed and her phrasing was spontaneous and expressive her tone stood out both in the quartet and the septet, always measuring her strength and applying beautiful colours to her voice. ABC From the moment he walked onstage until the moment he was shot by the supers, La Colla lived, breathed and embodied Mario Cavaradossi. Brusque and focused he sang with passion and enthusiasm. 5 MONDAY 6 MARCH 2017 MONDAY 3 APRIL 2017 Tara Erraught Mezzo-soprano Ivan Magrì Tenor James Baillieu Pianist Tara Erraught is a tremendously appealing and charismatic singer (The Washington Post) with a penchant for engaging her audiences with unique and compelling dramatic interpretations. A resident principle soloist with the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich, Erraught s recent highlights include her role debut as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier at Glyndebourne and the BBC Proms....vocally and dramatically her performance was flawless. Seen and Heard International The evening, however, belonged to the young Irish mezzo Tara Erraught as the put-upon Angelina. With her accurate, fleet divisions and sweet disposition she won the audience s hearts completely. Opera Magazine Iain Burnside Pianist Ivan Magrì, the second singer of the season to have studied under Luciano Pavarotti, is known for his fresh, light tenor, and has won a number of European singing competitions. Having made a name for himself performing in opera houses and festivals in Italy, France and Japan, Rosenblatt Recitals welcomes him for his London recital debut. The Sicilian tenor boasts a naturally powerful tenor which he used without restraint the cocky aplomb with which he delivered his arias suited the character of the libertine count perfectly. Bachtrack Programme includes songs and arias by Bellini, Donizetti, Flotow, Massenet and Tosti. Programme includes songs and arias by Spohr, Lachner, Schubert, Mozart and Rossini.

6 THURSDAY 16 MARCH PM CADOGAN HALL Photo: Pavel Antonov Sondra Radvanovsky Soprano Anthony Manoli Pianist Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky is an internationally celebrated artist who has performed at major opera houses across the globe. The first singer in Metropolitan Opera history to perform all three queens in Donizetti s Tudor dramas, Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda and Roberto Devereux, Radvanovsky s outright gorgeous, poignant and silvery (The Washington Post) voice will stay with you long after this recital. The applause and bravos for the soprano Sondra Radvanovsky were so frenzied [the audience] had just witnessed an emotionally vulnerable and vocally daring performance, a milestone in the career of an essential artist. The New York Times Programme includes songs and arias by Vivaldi, Strauss, Liszt, Barber and Giordano.

7 TUESDAY 9 MAY 2017 MONDAY 5 JUNE 2017 Lise Davidsen Soprano Nahuel Di Pierro Bass James Baillieu Pianist Lise Davidsen was urged to develop her voice as an operatic soprano whilst studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, a recommendation fully justified in the wake of a string of prestigious award wins, including the Audience Prize at Operalia Davidsen s 2016/17 season includes anticipated debuts at Glyndebourne and Opernhaus Zürich. Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen, aged 28, is the real deal she sealed her win with singing that was strong and technically flawless, and put her name at the top of the list of young singers of her generation. Financial Times She shows with a phenomenal, dramatic voice how she can sing such a difficult aria. She took the public immediately. Plácido Domingo Programme includes songs and arias by Grieg, Sibelius, Giordano, Mascagni and Strauss. Alphonse Cemin Pianist To conclude the 2016/17 season, Rosenblatt Recitals welcomes Argentine operatic bass, Nahuel Di Pierro, former member of the Paris Opera Studio and the Salzburg Festival Young Singer Project. Di Pierro made his Royal Opera debut in 2012 and has performed with several of the most respected opera companies internationally, including the Opéra National de Paris and Deutsche Oper Berlin. Nahuel Di Pierro s Doctor was perfectly judged. It is hard to imagine this opera better cast. The Telegraph Programme includes songs and arias by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Rameau, Berlioz and Rossini.
