1 Electro-Pneumatic Bus Door Control Mechanism Application and Feature 1. Pneumatic Door Mechanism actuates the open/close movements of bus door through two double acting cylinders and two linkages with spline shafts. 2. To prevent people from being clamped, the door system adopts pneumatic sensor, human sensor and timer, so the door retracts automatically when any obstruction occurs to door. All these mounted above the door to save space and safety in operation. 3. There is a provision for emergency provided in the BDC (Bus Door Controller). This emergency is pneumatic. 4. The Bus Door Controller is microprocessor based. Technical Information 1. Operating Pressure: 4 10 bar 2. Ambient temp.: -5 C to +50 C 3. Rated Voltage : 24VDC 4. Drive Force: 2000n (0.4 Mpa) 5. 2 Product Description Main Features and Functions The double acting cylinder used in BDC is (Bore) dia.63 X 100mm stroke, with ball joint filled at cylinder end. 5/2 electrical operated valve i.e.; Operation Control Valve used for opening/closing of cylinder. 3/2 pilot operated valve i.e.: System Control Valve used for emergency operation. 3/2 electrical operated valve i.e.: Emergency Reset Valve used for electrical reset after emergency. 3/2 puss-pull valve i.e.; Main Cut off Valve used for main air supply cut off at the dash board end. Non return valve for compensation of air in the pilot/emergency line. Characteristic parts:. 4 Push Pull valve SDAJ201 (3/2) Function: Used to cut off air supply from the air tank to the system bar Response time -@5bar On time 20msec., off time 22msec. On the dash board Sp. Non-return valve (Optional) Function: To maintain air pressure in the pilot line to compensate air loss if there is any leakage in the system. Speed Control Valve (Online Flow control) Function: With proper adjustment, we can control the timing for door close/open. Pressure Switch (Optional) Function: To give feedback the system after obtaining requires pressure in the system for operation. Range / Set point 0-10 bar / 1 bar On the bracket 1/8 BSP (F) x 8/6 PU tube conn. Pneumatic Sensor Function: When there is any obstruction occurs to the door, air pressure in the pvc pipe in the rubber strip of the door panel will increase. As soon as the pneumatic sensor connected with the pvc pipe senses the air pressure change in the pvc pipe, it gives an electrical signal to the controller to retract the door. Human Sensor (Optional) Function: It is object sensitive type. It is fitted on the mounting plate with its sensor opening towards the floor of the bus. The length of the sensing range according to requirement at the body building end. The sensor is in active condition when the door is in open condition. During the door closing if somebody either tries to get into or out of the bus, it senses the person and gives signal to the controller to retract the door

5 Buzzer cum Indicator Function: During the door closing, the buzzer beeps to warn the driver. And also in case of emergency the beeping frequency changes to warn the driver. Magnetic Sensor (Reed Switch) Function: The reed switch installed on the slots provided on the square profile of the cylinder tube. The reed switch senses the magnet ring on the piston and gives signal to the microcontroller. As long as the door in close condition, the reed switch will glow. When the doors are opened, the piston of cylinder goes back to the end of the cylinder, thus the light on the reed switch stops glowing. Therefore, when the door is fully closed the controller will not work. Medium Design Supply voltage Max. switching current Max. There are two type of cover proved in which the emergency valve fitted. The round cover installed near the doors at outer side of bus and the square ones inside. Dashboard Switch (Optional) Function: These three switches are located on the dashboard in the driver s compartment. All switches are push button with indicator type. The green switches are for door operating front/rear. When the doors are in open condition, the switch will glow as per individual. The red switch used for resting the system if there is a case of emergency. It starts glowing when somebody presses the emergency switch. When the system resets, the lights in the switch stops glowing. Controller: Function: This is a microprocessor based and it controls the entire operation and the safety features are inbuilt in the circuit. The controller rating is 24V DC/55W/5Amp. Additional provisions are being made for further safety purposes

6 Ball joint: Function: This component fitted at the front end of the cylinder to rotate the linkage, which in turn open/close the doors. The ball joint provided to take care the entire misalignment take place during door assembly. MP4: Function: This is the component fitted at the rear of the cylinder to hold it on the mounting plate. Connectors: Function: These are used to connect PU tube for piping purpose and also to connect the valves and other pneumatic components in a pneumatic circuit. Some of them are having piping thread at one end with PU/ Nylon tube connection at other end. They are as follows Straight connector ¼ BSP X 8/6 PU/Nylon tube Elbow ¼ BSP X 8/6 PU/ Nylon tube Tee connector 8/6 PU/ Nylon tube Pressure Regulator Function: By using this component we can control the door open/close operation smoothly.
