The manufacturer, Fbar Group S.A. wll not be held responsble for any loss or damage resultng from not followng the nstructons of operatng manual. Danger of electrocuton Dmmer 2 s desgned to operate n electrcal home nstallaton. Faulty connecton or use may result n fre or electrc shock. All works on the devce may be performed only by a qualfed and lcensed electrcan. Observe natonal regulatons. Even when the devce s turned off, voltage may be present at ts termnals. Any mantenance ntroducng changes nto the confguraton of connectons or the load must be always performed wth dsabled fuse Requred overcurrent protecton Dmmer 2 must be protected wth an overcurrent protecton (fuse) wth a value not hgher than 10A. General nformaton about the FIBARO System FIBARO s a wreless smart home automaton system, based on the Z-Wave protocol. All of avalable devces can be controlled through a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet. Devces are not only recevers, but can also repeat the sgnal, ncreasng the Z-Wave network s range. It gves advantage over tradtonal wreless systems that requre drect lnk between transmtter and recever, as a result the constructon of the buldng could affect network s range negatvely. Every FIBARO network has ts unque dentfcaton number (home ID). Multple ndependent networks can exst n the buldng wthout nterferng. Transmsson securty of FIBARO System s comparable to wred systems. Z-Wave technology s the leadng soluton n smart home automaton. There s a wde range of Z-Wave devces that are mutually compatble, ndependently of manufacturer. It gves the system the ablty to evolve and expand over tme. For more nformaton vst:

15 #7: Calbraton Dmmer 2 s equpped wth an algorthm of smart lght source detecton. Dependng on the connected type of lght source, t automatcally adjusts an optmal control mode (leadng edge for nductve loads, tralng edge for capactve or resstve loads). The procedure of learnng the lght source type s called calbraton. Calbraton automatcally adjusts maxmum and mnmum lght levels (parameter 1 and 2). However, the nstaller s oblged to verfy the proper operaton of the devce, accordng to control modes descrpton. There s a 10% probablty that calbraton settngs wll requre a manual correcton. In a 2-wre connecton for loads other than resstve parameter 1 settngs must be adjusted manually. Calbraton procedure s performed always after removng the devce from the Z-Wave network. If the devce s not ncluded, after each power on/off calbraton wll occur. For the ncluded devce, calbraton s performed n accordance wth the parameter 35 settngs. Calbraton may be forced: by settng parameter 13 to 1 or 2 (wth/wthout FIBARO Bypass 2) through trple clckng and holdng the man lght swtch (each hold for more than 5 seconds) by selectng the approprate MENU opton usng the B-button (see Operatng the devce on page 12). By default, calbraton s performed wthout FIBARO Bypass 2. In case of connectng the Bypass 2, t s requred to force the approprate calbraton procedure usng B-button menu or through parameter 13. The devce saves the last calbraton enforcement mode (wth or wthout Bypass 2). The result of calbraton wll be confrmed wth the LED ndcator glowng n one of the followng colours: GREEN - Lght source recognzed as dmmable, dmmng levels set, brghtness may be controlled usng the S1 swtch. YELLOW - Lght source recognzed as non-dmmable, possblty to turn ON/OFF connected lght wth default parameters settngs. RED - Calbraton procedure faled. Possble reasons: lack of connected load or connected lght source exceeds maxmum power, whch may be controlled by the Dmmer 2. BLINKING RED - Calbraton procedure faled. Possble reasons: nstallaton falure or damaged load (causng actvaton of the overcurrent protecton). CAUTION Some types of LED and CF lamps are desgned to operate n leadng edge mode (wth conventonal dmmers). Informaton about proper operaton mode of the bulb should be ncluded n ts manual. In ths case you have to manually force the desred operatng mode usng parameter 30. CAUTION After changng the load launch the calbraton or remove and add the devce. Before changng the operatng mode or performng the calbraton procedure the lght must be turned off. Verfy the operatng mode, accordng to product documentaton. CAUTION Durng the calbraton procedure, rado connecton s dsabled and the Dmmer 2 does not respond to any commands. It may cause temporary problems wth communcaton n the Z-Wave network. After completng the calbraton, communcaton wth the module wll be restored. Calbraton

16 #8: Power and energy consumpton CAUTION FIBARO Dmmer 2 n the 3-wre connecton has the power and energy measurement functon. In case of the 2-wre connecton ths functon s avalable only for load of cosφ In other cases power s estmated and can dffer from actual power consumed by the devce. CAUTION FIBARO Dmmer 2 stores perodcally (every 5 mnutes) the consumpton data n the devce memory. Dsconnectng the module from the power supply wll not erase the energy consumpton data. FIBARO Dmmer 2 allows for the actve power and energy consumpton montorng. Data s sent to the man Z-Wave controller, e.g. Home Center. Measurng s carred out by the most advanced mcro-controller technology, assurng maxmum accuracy and precson. Electrc actve power - power that energy recever s changng nto a work or a heat. The unt of actve power s Watt [W]. Electrc energy - energy consumed by a devce through a tme perod. Consumers of electrcty n households are blled by supplers on the bass of actve power used n gven unt of tme. Most commonly measured n klowatt-hour [kwh]. One klowatt-hour s equal to one klowatt of power consumed over perod of one hour, 1kWh = 1000Wh. Resettng consumpton memory: Dmmer 2 allows to erase stored consumpton data n three ways: a) By resettng the devce (see Operatng the devce on page 12). b) Usng functonalty of a Z-Wave controller (see the controller s manual). c) Manually clearng the data usng the followng procedure: 1. 17 17 #9: Assocatons Assocaton (lnkng devces) - drect control of other devces wthn the Z-Wave system network usng the wall swtch connected to the Dmmer 2. The assocaton enables the Dmmer 2 to control drectly a devce ncluded n Z-Wave network e.g. other Dmmer, Relay Swtch, Roller Shutter or scene (may be controlled only through a Z-Wave controller). The Dmmer 2 provdes the assocaton of fve groups: 1st Assocaton Group Lfelne reports state of the devce. Man Z-Wave+ network controller should be added to ths group. The Lfelne group can handle only one devce. It s not recommended to modfy ths group. 2nd Assocaton Group On/Off (S1) s assgned to swtch no. 1. Sends BASIC command class frame accordng to the state of the devce. 3rd Assocaton Group Dmmer (S1) s assgned to swtch no. 1. Sends MULTILEVEL SWITCH command class frame. Allows sendng dm/brghten command to assocated devces. 4th Assocaton Group On/Off (S2) s assgned to swtch no. 2. Allows sendng dm/brghten command to assocated devces. Assocaton ensures drect transfer of control commands between devces, s performed wthout partcpaton of the man controller and requres assocated devce to be n the drect range. Dmmer 2 supports the operaton of multchannel devces. Multchannel devces are devces that nclude two or more crcuts nsde one physcal unt. Dmmer 2 n 2nd to 5th group allows for controllng 5 regular and 5 multchannel devces per an assocaton group, out of whch 1 feld s reserved for the Z-Wave network man controller. It s not recommended to assocate more than 10 devces n general, as the response tme to control commands depends on the number of assocated devces. In extreme cases, system response may be delayed. To add an assocaton (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab 3. Specfy to whch group and what devces are to be assocated 4. Wat for the confguraton process to end. Sendng relevant nformaton to devces added to assocated groups may take even a few mnutes Assocatons

18 #10: Z-Wave range test CAUTION To make Z-Wave range test possble, the devce must be added to the Z-Wave controller. Error messages: A) OVERTEMPERATURE ERROR Dmmer 2 features self-temperature measurement functon. In case of reachng crtcal temperature, the load s turned off and the gateway receves an nformaton about exceedng maxmum temperature of the module. B) LOAD ERROR Dmmer 2 s equpped wth functonalty of detectng the burnt out bulb. In case of such stuaton, Dmmer 2 sends the notfcaton about load falure. Descrbed functon s not avalable for values of parameter 58 dfferent than 0. Power varaton s detected n accordance wth the settngs of parameters 15 and 16. Example: Parameter 15 set to 30%. Parameter 16 set to 5 seconds. Dmmer 2 wll detect the change of load at the moment of power varaton by 30% compared to standard power consumpton (measured durng the calbraton) and after 5 seconds from brghtness level stablzaton. Ths functon s avalable only n a control mode complant wth the mode recognzed durng the calbraton (parameter 14 set to 1). Appearng of an error may be the result of not connectng the load. It may suggest burnng out all of the loads connected to the Dmmer 2. Damaged load should be mmedately replaced. After connectng the new load, FIBARO Dmmer 2 wll return to normal operaton. C) SURGE ERROR Appearng of an error may be the result of electrcal surges, ncorrect load control (nductve load controlled n tralng edge mode) or connectng the prohbted type of load. Pressng any of the connected swtches or changng state of the devce usng the controller wll ext error mode. If parameter 35 s set to 3 or 4, the load wll be calbrated agan after turnng on the load or an occurrence of LOAD ERROR, SURGE or OVERCURRENT error. Error modes

20 D) OVERCURRENT ERROR Appearng of an error may also be the result of rapd powerng on the load. It may also occur f the soft-start functonalty s dsabled (parameter 34 set to 0) or as a result of the short crcut. If parameter 37 s set to 1, the devce wll automatcally try to turn on agan. If descrbed error has been caused by the rapd powerng on the load, then FIBARO Dmmer 2 wll return to normal operaton after reenablng. After three unsuccessful automatc tres of turnng on the load, Dmmer 2 wll stay n OVERCURRENT error mode (module turned off). In such stuaton, t s requred to remove the falure (possble short crcut n the nstallaton.) Otherwse, t s recommended to set the long soft-start (parameter 34 set to 2). E) OVERLOAD ERROR Appearng of an error s a result of connectng recevers wth too much power consumpton. In ths case FIBARO Dmmer 2 wll automatcally turn off the lghtng. It s requred to reduce power consumpton of connected load (e.g. by reducng the number of recevers) and turn on the lght source agan by the wall swtch or a Z-Wave command. F) VOLTAGE DROP ERROR Appearng of an error n a 2-wre connecton may be the result of mans voltage drop or a too hgh brghtness level of the lght source. If parameter 37 s set to 1, the devce wll automatcally try to turn on agan. Voltage drop error suggests that parameter 2 value should be reduced untl dsappearng of the falure. You can also recalbrate the load usng parameter 13. After three unsuccessful automatc tres of turnng on the load, Dmmer 2 wll stay n VOLTAGE DROP error mode (module turned off). G) HARDWARE FAIL ERROR Appearng of an error may be a result of serous hardware falure of the Dmmer 2. In ths case the Dmmer 2 sets the maxmum brghtness level and the LED vsual ndcator starts blnkng n red. All external actons (Z-Wave commands, pressng the swtches, menu settngs) wll be gnored. We recommend dsconnectng the devce from the power supply and contactng the customer servce or to ntate the guarantee procedure. Ths error may also appear as a result of enablng the Dmmer 2 wthout load connected to the output n 3-wre connecton. It s not a dangerous stuaton. We recommend dsablng the fuse, connectng the load and enablng the fuse agan. Error modes
