2 The europeanisation of energy polilcy is underway "Over the next five years I want to contribute, with you, towards a Europeanisation of our energy policy," Günter Oettinger, European Parliament, hearing 14/01/10

3 Strategic action plan for the period Adopted on 10 November Main objectives : Ensure that we are on the right path toward the 2020 objectives Remain well placed to decarbonise by 2050.

4 5 key priorities of the action plan Energy efficiency/energy saving? 20% by 2020; 2. Integrated market providing prices, choice and competitive security of supply ; 3. Secure, safe and affordable energy: pay due attention to the consumer and safety; 4. Technological leadership offering solutions innovative and economical ; 5. Strong international partnership, particularly with ours neighbours. Energy Council of 3th December 2011 : The policy debate showed wide support of MS to the strategic documents presented by the Commission. Only DE and ES regretted that promotion of renewable energy sources was not among the five main priorities of the Energy Action plan

5 The new initiatives that the Commission is preparing Infrastructure package adopted on 17 November 2011 ; legal instrument should follow by spring/summer 2011 ; New strategy energy efficiency (March 2011) ; Communication on external dimension of energy policy (June 2011) ; 2050 Road map (public consultation under way); Initiative on smart networks.
