This second physical volume/lun (for the SQL Transaction Log) should be capable of redundancy, like RAID 1 disk system. The main drive (Storage System 1) may be partitioned into two, separating the OS from the NEWSTAR Programs & Database. Page 4 of 7

Operating System Microsoft Windows 2012 (original release) Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 SP 1 Microsoft Windows 2008 (original release), SP 2 64-bit Note: We are in the process of certifying Microsoft Windows 2012 R2. Standard Edition for those with Memory Requirement of up to 32 GB Enterprise Edition for those with Memory Requirement of over 32 GB The following Microsoft.NET Framework should be installed/enabled: 2.0 with SP2 3.5 with SP Full Package (Client Profile and Extended) or 4.5 Regional Settings (for Servers located in Canada): Location: United States Format: English (United States), Short Date: M/D/YYYY Keyboard: US 4. Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP 1 Standard Edition Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (original release); 64-bit preferred SP 3 Standard Edition Large Customers who want to use the advanced features of Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition may use it. Note, however, that not all advanced features are supported for NEWSTAR Products. Please consult with Constellation before you decide to go for the Enterprise Edition. Microsoft SQL Server is generally sold at the latest version, which at the time of this writing is Microsoft SQL Server Before you purchase Microsoft SQL Server, confirm with your Vendor that you are eligible to exercise downgrade rights to Microsoft SQL 2012 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. Customer is responsible for licensing Microsoft SQL Server. Page 5 of 7

6 Below are the requirements for installing Microsoft SQL Server: a. If Server is located in Canada, regional settings for Location, Formats and Keyboards must be United States and U.S. English, as specified under the Operating System section above. b. Install Microsoft SQL Server as DEFAULT Instance c. Use Mixed Mode Authentication (Microsoft SQL Server Authentication and Microsoft Authentication) d. Collation for the Database Engine should be: Microsoft SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS e. Apply the required Service Pack 5. Microsoft Office If users use the Main Server for importing from and exporting to Microsoft Excel and for Mail Merge, the Main Server must have Microsoft Office. If using a Microsoft Terminal Server (Remote Desktop Server), that Server must have Microsoft Office. Workstations must have Microsoft Office The supported Versions of Microsoft Office are: Microsoft Office 2007 Standard or higher edition Microsoft Office 2010 Profession 32-bit or higher edition Microsoft Office 2013/ Microsoft Office 365 Professional 32-bit or higher edition 6. Microsoft Terminal Server (Remote Desktop Services) Maximum of 25 users per Microsoft Terminal Server RAM: 16 GB CPU: 1 x 6-core (with expansion slot) The Microsoft Terminal Server must have Microsoft Office installed. Workstations Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (32- or 64-bit), Microsoft 8 Professional (32- or 64-bit), Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional (32- or 64-bit) RAM: 4 GB or higher CPU: 2-core or higher 8. Networking Minimum of 1 GigaBit Per Second ( GBPS ) network. This means that Network Cards, Network Cables and Switches must be rated for 1 GBPS. For virtual machines, explore the possibility of setting up 10 GBPS connection between the NEWSTAR Server and the Terminal Server (RDS). 9. Other Server Applications It is not recommended for NEWSTAR Enterprise to be hosted on the same Server as Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory and other major server-based applications. They will be competing with NEWSTAR Enterprise and NEWSTAR Sales for server resources and will result in performance problems. 10. Disk System / RAID RAID 10 is the preferred Disk System because it offers both redundancy and good performance. Customers with only a few users may use RAID 1. Please note that Progress is known not to perform well on a RAID 5 system. Please see Appendix A. Page 7 of 7
