If the virtual server is sharing resources with other VMs on the same host, the Virtual server may actually receive less resources than its settings indicate (depending on the prioritization of those resources). Due to these limitations we recommend that you assign extra resources to your virtual server and consider using the Alternate Installation Schemes listed at the end of this document to optimize server performance. This includes the SQL, Web and/or Remoting components of LabStats.

LabStats 5 is more robust than previous versions of LabStats & increased system resources are recommended. Here is a tiered recommendation based on the number of clients connecting to your LabStats Server: Tiered Server Requirements 1 to 500 Clients 10Gb Hard Drive Space above what s needed for the OS.

3 500 to 1000 Clients 20Gb Hard Drive Space above what s needed for the OS to 1500 Clients Please Note: If you have more than 1000 clients, we highly recommend using one of the alternate schemes listed at the end of this document. 30Gb Hard Drive Space above what s needed for the OS.

Recommended 2.5 GHz Quad Core Processor 6Gb RAM 40Gb Hard Drive Space above what s needed for the OS. Alternate Installation Schemes In LabStats 5 you can split the Web, Database, and Remoting Servers onto separate machines. The more clients that connect to the Remoting Server the more memory and processing power it will use. Once you exceed 800 clients, client communication and website response may begin to delay. To avoid this we recommend either adding resources for a single server configuration, a longer check-in interval (this should not affect accuracy as events are stored in XML files until sent to the server) or one of the schemes listed below. If you have licenses for the full version of or 2012 we recommend using it as there are better tools with the standard editions over express and the full version does not have the same limitations as with express (1 core CPU usage and 10 gig database limit). Please Note: If you have more than 1000 clients, we highly recommend using one of the following schemes to separate the Remoting Server from the SQL and Web Servers.
