1 Undergraduate Endowed Scholarships Financial Aid These scholarships are awarded by the Financial Aid Office as part of your applications for financial aid. Palmer Asbell Memorial Established in 2003, the fund provides scholarship support based on merit and financial need: first, to Undergraduate student who have matriculated from the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, New York; otherwise, to graduate students pursuing a master of arts in Deaf Education with a concentration in Teacher Preparation or Advanced Studies Alma & Edward West Memorial The fund provides financial assistance to an Undergraduate deaf student from Virginia. It is administered by the Director of Financial Aid. 50AE 500O 50AB 51LK André Muller International Scholarship Endowment Burr and Duesman Family Catherine Jackson Moss International Chanda Nichele Smith, Class of 1998, The provides scholarship support for International Students (Undergraduate or graduate) with a minimum GPA of 2.5 with preference given to students from Africa or Europe. Established in 2004, the fund provides financial assistance to deserving Undergraduate students who are deaf or hard of hearing with preference given to those from Nebraska or Wisconsin. The purpose of the is to provide financial assistance to Undergraduate, and/or graduate, deaf and/or hearing students from outside the United States of America, who have demonstrated financial need. Students must meet all requirements for admission and have maintained a grade point average of 2.8 or better. Preference will be given to students who intend, upon graduation of their academic studies, to return to their home countries, where they will use the knowledge and skills they developed at Gallaudet to become productive deaf or hard of hearing citizens in their home countries and/or to contribute to the betterment of people in their home countries who are deaf or hard of hearing. Students must be willing to sign a Letter of Intent to that effect. Preference will also be given to students who have previously received financial assistance from the and successfully completed the courses for which the previous assistance was provided. Weaver The fund provides financial assistance to Undergraduate or graduate students with preference to those who use or plan to teach cued speech manual communication methods. 501R Jeanette L. Padgett Scholarship The provides a scholarship based on financial need for a deaf Undergraduate student majoring in social work, education, or English, with first preference given to students from Texas Leland B. & Lucille B. May 5217 Lorna C. Werble Memorial This fund was to provide assistance to deserving female graduate and Undergraduate students at Gallaudet. Students must either be US or Canadian citizens. This fund provides scholarship support for full-time Undergraduate or graduate students at the University who have demonstrated a need for financial assistance. In selecting scholarship recipients, preference is to be given to deaf or hard of hearing students from the states of West Virginia or Maryland. 501I Mary Alleen Sellers Scholarship Provides Undergraduate students with scholarships: first-time recipients having a 3.0 GPA or higher and renewing scholarship recipients having a GPA of 3.5 or higher Mary Pickford This fund was to provide financial assistance to deserving Undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in degree programs at Gallaudet. For first time recipients, preference will be given to students with a GPA (either high school or last semester as a full-time student) of 3.0 or higher, but no less than 2.5. First time awards can be made only to studens with a high school or full credit Gallaudet grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The scholarships may not be used to cover room or board expenses, or the purchase of books and school supplies. Preference will be given to students from the state of Texas and additional preference shall be given to graduates of the Texas Schoool for the Deaf at Austin, Texas. This fund provides financial support to entering freshman students with a preference to those who have demonstrated leadership abilities during their high school years. This funds assist average students with at least a C average, and need financial assistance. The fund assists deaf and hard of hearing students at Gallaudet who are in financial need Read Family Scholarship This fund provides scholarship awards to deserving deaf students or persons training to become teachers of the deaf who require financial assistance to attain their educational goals. Preference is given to students interested in teaching deaf children in a developing country or to assist a student from a developing country in attending Gallaudet. Jordan Memorial The fund will be used to support scholarships with preference given to Undergraduate deaf women who are enrolled in the Education program and have demonstrated financial need Ernest G., 24, Fern L. Langenberg Memorial Scholarship The provides an award to an outstanding Undergraduate student who demonstrates success both in and outside the classroom. Financial need does not need to be demonstrated. Langenberg scholars should hold a GPA of 2.8 and above, as well as demonstrated success in one or more of the following areas: athletics, arts, leadership in student organizations, or involvement in community programs, civic programs and causes Estelle Shelton This fund provides scholarships for deserving female Undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in degree programs in education Harry M. & Margaret V. If the Micha Institute ceases to exist for any reason or if its primary function of educating deaf students is discontinued, the annual income of the fund is to be used for tuition assistance for needy Undergraduate students at Gallaudet. This fund will provide scholarships to deaf and hard of hearing students. The award is presented annually to outstanding freshman mathematics students. This fund provides an annual award to an outstanding student in the Department of Counseling. This fund provides annual scholarship support for deserving women who are members of Phi Kappa Zeta sorority. This fund provides scholarships and/or career intern stipends to be awarded to deaf and hard of hearing students and students with multiple disabilities. The income will be used to support deaf individuals pursuing a theological education. The fund provides educational opportunities to deserving students enrolled in Gallaudet s Young Scholars Program. This fund supports student internships related to criminal justice and a special lecture series. The fund was set-up to provide financial assistance to Gallaudet students as follows: 1) Half of the avaiable monies supports a merit award which will be given to a student participating in the Gallaudet Foreign Studies Program. Candidiates for this award must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to students entering their junior year. 2) The remaining half of the available monies provides assistance for students majoring in Graphic Design in the Art Department The full name of this fund is Joseph L. Mattivi Memorial benefitting the School of Management. Money earned from this fund will provide scholarships for students that need financial assistance. The fund supports scholarships for deaf and hard of hearing students in Gallaudet s Music Program who have excellent academic standing and demonstrated financial need.

The fund is used to support the students, faculty, and programs of the Department of American Sign Language and Deaf Studies. This fund provides four annual scholarships. This fund provides scholarship assistance to students in the School of Education and Human Services with preference given to those students in the Counseling Department. 50AU The Robert Mounty Scholarship The purpose of the is to provide scholarship support for deaf and hard of hearing Gallaudet University students who have demonstrated academic excellence while majoring in communication studies, English, theatre arts, or digital media, or minoring in journalism. Preference will be given to students with displayed financial need The Tower Clock This fund provides awards to full-time students with good academic standing (above 3.0) and character who have made significant contributions to the University community The World Deaf Leadership Scholars Scholarships (full tuition, room, board) to students from developing countries with a commitment towards returning to their home country. Provides support for a University WDL mentor. Also provides for up to two internships.
