Whether our future job responsibilities require mental skills or physical skills or a blend of both, each one of us will acquire these skills in different ways. Some will follow a traditional K-12 track followed by college degree programs, and some will utilize technical educational programs thru trade schools, junior colleges or technical colleges and some will blend all of the above along with on the job training. Business and industry continue to demand that their employees deliver usable hard skills but increasingly are focusing more emphasis on the soft skills required to efficiently deliver the technical skills to the work place. It is my belief that FHTC s success is based on its ability to develop well trained people, that can deliver these skill needs to the workplace in a very cost competitive and timely process, that allows these students to transition into the workforce immediately. - Joe Pimple, Executive Vice President Sauder Custom Fabrication, Inc. 3 Paving the Way The FHTC Foundation annually awards over $100,000 in scholarships to our undergraduate students. Area high school students are also eligible to apply for the Flint Hills Youth Charitable High School Scholarship. Receiving the high school scholarship has allowed me to worry less about the financial aspect of purchasing tools and supplies for the automotive program. It has been a great help and I m appreciative of the College for their support. - Wyatt Ingalls, High School Scholarship Recipient, Automotive Technology Invest in your future For every $1 students spend on their education at community and technical colleges, they will receive a return of $4.80 in higher wages over their working lives. 1 Jobs Requiring Postsecondary Education by Level of Education Total Jobs Graduate Degree 11% 118,390 Bachelor s Degree 24% 403,440 Associate s Degree 9% 151,400 Some College 25% 414,620 H.S.
