Rationale for proposal: Because the course is required of all psychology majors, revising this course for online delivery will allow students to complete a BA in psychology fully online. 3. Justifications for (answer N/A if not applicable) Similarity to other courses: N/A Prerequisites: An introductory level of psychology knowledge is required to prepare students for this course, which will provide foundational knowledge the various opportunities available to students pursuing a degree in psychology. Introductory psychology (PSY 1879G or PSY 1890G- Honors) provides an overview of much of the discipline s areas of study. Online/Hybrid delivery justification & assurances (answer N/A if not applicable) Online or hybrid delivery justification: This course is currently delivered in a face-to-face format. Beginning Fall 2016, the Psychology department is planning to offer enough online courses for students to complete a psychology undergraduate degree online. Modifying this course for online delivery will allow students to major in psychology and obtain their degree fully online. Instruction: Faculty teaching online will have gone through EIU s OCDI training and certification, or equivalent. Instruction may be mostly asynchronous--allowing student engagement through discussion boards, online activities, quizzes, and exams. Integrity: The course syllabus will include a statement about academic dishonesty. The focus of this 1-hour course is familiarization and understanding, rather than memorization; thus, Exams will be open-book requiring analysis and critical thinking, which will discourage plagiarism. In addition, EIU has software that can be utilized to ensure that students taking online exams are the person registered for the course (by using a student s webcam to record the test taker and testing environment). Other writing assignments will emphasize individual applications and experiences. Interaction: The instructor and students will be able to communicate with each other through e- mail, discussion boards, and chat functions provided by EIU s learning management system (e.g., D2L).

(CT-1) 3) Become familiar with the curricular/extracurricular opportunities for EIU psychology majors. (CT-2, 3) 4) Explore post-graduate opportunities in psychology, including career options and graduate training. (CT-2, WR-3) 4. Course materials.
