6 The Opportunity For community colleges to become essential catalysts to California s economic recovery and jobs creation at the local, regional and state levels. The Strategy Doing What MATTERS for jobs and the economy is a four-pronged framework to respond to the call of our nation, state, and regions to close the skills gap. The four prongs are: Give Priority for jobs and the economy Make Room for jobs and the economy Promote Student Success Innovate for jobs and the economy
7 Innovate What MATTERS for Jobs and the Economy Demand for Skilled Workers Outpaces Supply Innovative public/private partnerships which enable us to close the skills gap of our state's labor force begin with working together to create solutions. As part of Doing What MATTERS for Jobs and the Economy framework, we are investing in innovation, such as highly specialized industry training, technical consulting and a multitude of services, that solve a complex workforce training need. The end result is the ability for our system of community colleges to better deliver for employers, sectors, and their workers.
8
9 Education One of the future strategies within this Framework will be the braiding of SB70, Perkins Leadership, and EWD funding streams to execute on regional sector strategies as is the proposed direction of SB1402, SB1070 and the Perkins V blueprint. This Critical Conversation is a forum to assist and support the colleges as the Doing What MATTERS for Jobs and the Economy Framework is activated. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas about the Framework and their ideas to facilitate a successful transition.
