In conjunction with its Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), and other partners, it actively seeks opportunities to promote medical education through programmatic and research activities."
5 An IMG is any physician who received his/her basic medical degree from a medical school outside of the U.S. and Canada, regardless of citizenship This includes any U.S. citizen who received a medical degree from a school outside of the U.S. and Canada
6 Hospital-based training and education that follows graduation from a medical school Includes residency or fellowship programs involving health care services to patients Prepares physicians for practice in a medical specialty and/or subspecialty

10 ECFMG Certification assures residency program directors and the U.S. public that the IMG has met minimum standards of eligibility to enter U.S. residency training. ECFMG Certification is required for: o IMG entry into ACGME-accredited GME o Taking USMLE Step 3 o State licensure o J-1 physician category sponsorship / ECFMG
11 Medical Education Credentials o Completion of a medical school curriculum of at least 4 years o School and graduation year listed in IMED* o Primary-source verification of medical diploma and transcript(s) by ECFMG USMLE Exams o Step 1 Basic Science o Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) o Step 2 Clinical Skills (CS) *The International Medical Education Directory (IMED)
