1 CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS MEETING OF THE MINDS IN MONTEREY Fast Forward: A Practicum on Inventing the Future Sponsored by the California Workforce Association September 8 10, 2015 Monterey Marriott Hotel and Monterey Conference Center Specific submission procedures are located at the end of this document. The Conference Theme, Fast Forward, is intended to act as a Practicum that will greatly accelerate WIOA implementation. Both Consultants with specific subject matter expertise and practitioners who are designing the plane as it flies are encouraged to submit. We understand that WIOA is a work in progress. PROPOSAL TOPICS The Conference will feature nine major topical tracks during each set of concurrent workshops. We have included examples of topic areas under each track that we understand State and local workforce investment systems are currently tackling and need technical assistance and training. Proposers will be notified by on or before Monday, July 20, TARGET AUDIENCES o Business, including private sector members of Workforce Boards o Staff to Workforce Development Boards and One Stop Managers o One Stop Partner staff from DOR, CalWorks, Adult Education, etc. o Educators from community colleges, K-12 and the CSU campuses involved with Career Technical Education and workforce preparation o Community based organizations connecting constituencies with career mobility and skill attainment o Representatives from organized labor involved with apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs o Professionals involved in economic development, small business development, self employment and entrepreneurship o Foundations supporting workforce solutions o Stakeholders and collaborators involved in building strong regional economies ANTICIPATED ATTENDANCE Over 500 individuals will attend the Conference. PROPOSAL ACCEPTANCE Presenters will be notified by Monday, July 20, CWA reserves the right to suggest changes to the proposal concept. Because we receive more proposals than we can accommodate in the limited time and space available, not all proposals will be accepted. 3
