2 ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS FOR PRIVATE SPONSORED PROGRAMMES UNDER DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE ENTRY SCHEME 1.0 INTRODUCTION There are two avenues of entry into undergraduate programmes at Kyambogo University. These are: (i) (ii) Direct Entry Scheme Diploma/Certificate Entry Scheme This document has been compiled for applicants who wish to apply for undergraduate private sponsored programmes under Diploma/certificate scheme 2.0 GENERAL INFORMATION a) The diploma/certificate Entry scheme targets applicants with a two year diplomas and certificates with at least duration of one year in the relevant fields. b) Diploma holder applicants shall be eligible for admission to the programmes on meeting the following requirements: i) Uganda Certificate of Education (O level) with at least six (6) passes obtained at the same sitting. ii) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with 2 Principal passes for Arts subjects and 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes (excluding General paper) for Science subjects obtained at the same sitting. OR iii) A relevant post O level Certificate/Diploma in relevant fields and must have done essential subjects for the programme applied for In addition, to b in 2.0 above i). An applicant for Business Studies, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Procurement, Micro-Finance, Social Work & Administration shall be eligible for admissions if he/she has a principle pass in Economics at A level. ii). Applicant for Technology /Engineering, Computer Science shall be eligible for admission if she/he has at least one Principal pass at A level in one of the following subjects - Physics, Mathematics, Wood work, Metal work or Technical Drawing. iii). Applicants for Biological Science, sports Science, Science Technology, Education and Textiles shall be eligible for admission if he/she has at least one principal pass in the following subjects- Biology, Physics or Chemistry. iv). Applicants for Vocational Studies namely Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics shall be eligible for admission if he/she has at least one principal pass in Agriculture, Home Economics or Food and Nutrition. 2

Applicants for Fine Art and Design related programmes shall be eligible for admission if he/she has at least one Principal pass in Fine Art, The applicant should have passed Fine Art with a credit at O level. vi). Applicants for Secretarial studies must have at least a Principal pass at A level in any of the following subjects: French, Luganda, Kiswahili, German, Swedish, Arabic, Literature in English etc in order to be eligible for admission. vii). Applicants for Education namely Arts, Special Needs, Social Sciences must have at least two Principal passes at A level in the essential subjects. These applicants must indicate the subjects to undertake during the course of study. The Subject combination Brochure may be obtained from Admissions Office. Nos (i)-(ii) in 2 c above are for those who did A-level after 1995 c) Applicants will be admitted into the year of entry applied for and no change of year of entry will be permitted once admitted. d) Certified copies of Diploma /Certificate Transcripts (not photocopies of certified copies) from awarding Institutions and a photocopy of the birth a certificate must be attached on to the application form. Incomplete application forms will not be accepted. e) Application fees should be paid in Stanbic Bank and receipts obtained before collecting application forms from Admissions Office. f) Candidates are warned against submitting forged Documents. h) Details of study programme for Diploma/Certificate holders requirements and fees structure may be accessed from our website or from Academic Registrar (Admission Office) Kyambogo University. However the University has a right to revise fees any time. l) Candidates applying for programmes not advertised or years of programmes not indicated shall not be considered. m) The CLOSING DATE for returning the application forms as indicated in the advertisement must be strictly observed. n) All Enquires should be addressed to the ACADEMIC REGISTRAR at the above contact address. 3
