The factory is located over 122 acres ad icludes mai assembly, gearbox assembly, cab weldig, superstructure moutig ad weldig, pait shop, shot blastig, a test track, a driver traiig ceter besides a techical traiig ceter. The factory meets ISO 9000 quality stadards ad ISO 14,000 certificatio for Eviromet stadards There are close to 140 people workig o the shop floor, with a average age of aroud 24 years. Systems ad people are geared to the 5 S way of housekeepig ad Kaba storig, visual cotrols ad employee ivolvemet. Today, the istalled Capacity is 1000 Vehicles per aum ad ca be quickly stepped up to additioal volumes. The factory has a 100% back-up power esured by our very ow Volvo Peta Egies.

3 Beyod ISO Volvo i Idia s quality system is based o the ISO 9001 & EMS stadards, but i fact goes beyod the requiremets of the iteratioal stadards. A few examples that reflect the quality work: All suppliers must meet Volvo Truck Corporatio s requiremets. Suppliers are resposible for deliverig compoets of the right quality ad must abide by our quality systems. Today, some of the suppliers to Volvo i Idia ot oly match Volvo s global quality stadards but are also raked amog the best i the world. All trucks udergo diagostic tests for all truck fuctios with the help of a special program Prosit executed through a computer. Every truck goes through a check o the Volvo test track at the factory. High-tech equipmet is i use to esure topclass productio. A example is the laserguided aligmet of the axles o trucks as well as trailers. Specially traied employees check up the etire vehicle to spot ay quality issue before the truck leaves the factory. Product audit is a commo process for all Volvo factories, thus also makig it easy to bechmark them with each other. Tools ad equipmet i the factory are calibrated at defied itervals. No matter whom you meet i the factory, quality will be o top of his mid.

4 The Mai Assembly This lie has is a 9 stage operatio. Startig with rivetig of frame rails till the ed where we drive off the truck. Behid the assembly is a set of well defied assembly istructios ad set of tools & equipmets that are quality checked & has a defied calibratio cycle. Each precedig stage & forward stage act like customer & supplier cocept At the ed of the lie we have a Computerised process quality fuctio check. Sice i our trucks we have large electroics itegratio, the electro-mechaical fuctioal checks are importat. We have microprocessor for vehicle maagemet, Egie maagemet etc. The software & hardware are checked usig the computer. Every truck is coected to a remote server i Swede & all software programmes are checked Various fuctios of the truck like, all lightig, accelerator, brake, gear shift operatios are checked through the computer I case of ay fault the same ca be traced usig the computer The trucks oce started will be test drive at the test track for about 40 to 50 Kms & oce agai all fuctios are checked before delivery to the customer

5 Gearbox Assembly Volvo i Idia is oe of the oly 2 uits outside Swede to assemble gear boxes. The assembly is carried out i a cotrolled eviromet. The gearbox assembly icludes the latest machies supportig i the process of washig ad degreasig of the parts. We fill the gearbox with recycled oil ad test it for eve the miutest of leakage. Also icluded is a drivelie simulator where we udertake thorough checks o oise levels ad gear egagemets.

6 Cabs Paitshop & Weldig The Pait shop are world class facilities for paitig of cabs, plastic parts, Trailers & chassis compoets. All Pait material & systems are coform to Iteratioal Volvo specificatio. The focus of paitig from the customer perceptive is protectio from corrosio, Weatherig, ultra violet resistace. The pait shop is fully pressurised eclosed shop for dust cotrol. Our pait system provides special protectio i all cavities & box sectios i cab to esure complete corrosio resistace. I the factory we iclude the shot blastig facility used for trailers ad tipper bodies. Startig this year Volvo, Hoskote will commece weldig of stamped paels for the cab. This breakdow i the cab aggregate will help icrease the local cotet i the local operatios ad will add eve greater flexibility. As a cosequece of the weldig process Volvo i Idia will ow upgrade its pait shop to iclude multi-layer pait process.

7 Eviromet & Safety Volvo i Idia approaches eviromet cocers o the basis of Volvo s global evirometal strategy. We focus o miimisig resource cosumptio, waste besides esurig that we achieve sigificat eergy savigs periodically. The Volvo idustrial system has a strog focus to itegrate our suppliers i lie with our core values. The Volvo factory at Hoskote is ISO 9001 ad EMS certified. Some of the activities with regard to our cocer for eviromet are: Usage of advaced systems Closed loop systems i pait shop No use/procuremet of chemicals i Volvo s Black list example: Tertiary treatmet i waste water treatmet Reverse Osmosis Effluet treatmet Paitig process i evirometal cotrol booths No use of Asbestos Refrigerat i Cab ad buildig is o-cfc Halo free fire extiguishers Factory oise levels at 100% treated waste water reutilised for gardeig boudaries are well withi legal limits Work across the factory follows all the safety precautios wherei we have carefully plaed our movemet. Operators are equipped with the ecessary gloves, ear cover or special suits as i the case of shot blastig ad pait shop. The oil we use to test leakages, as i the gearbox assembly or other purposes is recycled i the silos located earby.
