14 4 Bsic Informtion (Generl) 4.1 Proper use The blnce you purchsed is intended to determine the weighing vlue of mteril to be weighed. It is intended to be used s non-utomtic blnce, i.e. the mteril to be weighed is mnully nd crefully plced in the centre of the weighing plte. As soon s stble weighing vlue is reched the weighing vlue cn be red. 4.2 Improper Use Do not use blnce for dynmic weighings. In the event tht smll quntities re removed or dded to the mteril to be weighed, incorrect weighing results cn be displyed due to the stbility compenstion in the blnce. (Exmple: Slowly drining fluids from continer on the blnce.) Do not leve permnent lod on the weighing plte. This my dmge the mesuring system. Impcts nd overloding exceeding the stted mximum lod (mx) of the blnce, minus possibly existing tre lod, must be strictly voided. Blnce my be dmge by this. Never operte blnce in explosive environment. The seril version is not explosion protected. The structure of the blnce my not be modified. This my led to incorrect weighing results, sfety-relted fults nd destruction of the blnce. The blnce my only be used ccording to the described conditions. Other res of use must be relesed by KERN in writing. 4.3 Wrrnty Wrrnty clims shll be voided in cse Our conditions in the opertion mnul re ignored The pplince is used outside the described uses The pplince is modified or opened Mechnicl dmge or dmge by medi, liquids, nturl wer nd ter The pplince is improperly set up or incorrectly electriclly connected The mesuring system is overloded 14 CXB/CXP-BA-e-116

15 4.4 Monitoring of Test Resources In the frmework of qulity ssurnce the mesuring-relted properties of the blnce nd, if pplicble, the testing weight, must be checked regulrly. The responsible user must define suitble intervl s well s type nd scope of this test. Informtion is vilble on KERN s home pge ( with regrd to the monitoring of blnce test substnces nd the test weights required for this. In KERN s ccredited DKD clibrtion lbortory test weights nd blnces my be clibrted (return to the ntionl stndrd) fst nd t moderte cost. 5 Bsic Sfety Precutions 5.1 Py ttention to the instructions in the Opertion Mnul Crefully red this opertion mnul before setup nd commissioning, even if you re lredy fmilir with KERN blnces. 5.2 Personnel trining The pplince my only be operted nd mintined by trined personnel. 6 Trnsport nd storge 6.1 Testing upon cceptnce When receiving the pplince, plese check pckging immeditely, nd the pplince itself when unpcking for possible visible dmge. 6.2 Pckging Keep ll prts of the originl pckging in cse you need to return the pplince. Only use originl pckging for returning. Before sending, disconnect ll connected cbles nd loose/movble prts. Attch possibly existing trnsport sfegurds. Secure ll prts, e.g. weighing plte, power unit etc., to prevent slipping nd dmge. CXB/CXP-BA-e

16 7 Unpcking, Setup nd Commissioning 7.1 Instlltion Site, Loction of Use The blnces re designed in wy tht relible weighing results re chieved in common conditions of use. You will work ccurtely nd fst, if you select the right loction for your blnce. Therefore, observe the following for the instlltion site: Plce the blnce on firm, level surfce; Avoid extreme het s well s temperture fluctution cused by instlling next to rditor or in the direct sunlight; Protect the blnce ginst direct drughts due to open windows nd doors; Avoid jrring during weighing; Protect the blnce ginst high humidity, vpours nd dust; Do not expose the device to extreme dmpness for longer periods of time. Non-permitted condenstion (condenstion of ir humidity on the pplince) my occur if cold pplince is tken to considerbly wrmer environment. In this cse, cclimtize the disconnected pplince for c. 2 hours t room temperture. Avoid sttic chrge of goods to be weighed or weighing continer. Mjor disply devitions (incorrect weighing results) my be experienced should electromgnetic fields (e.g. due to mobile phones or rdio equipment), sttic electricity ccumultions or instble power supply occur. Chnge loction or remove source of interference. 7.2 Unpcking Crefully remove the blnce from the pckging, remove plstic cover nd setup blnce t the intended worksttion. 16 CXB/CXP-BA-e-116
