It will change the way we live. It will impact on healthcare; sustainable food and water supplies; energy conservation; manufacturing, production, logistics and distribution; construction; sustainable agriculture and precision integrated farming; climate change, environmental protection, disaster prediction, global trade, anti-counterfeiting, law and order and forensics, standards and regulations, data protection and privacy. It has the potential to improve our leisure time experiences - including attendance at a game of football. It will provide the foundation for SMART developments - SMART Cities, SMART Transport, SMART Manufacturing, SMART Construction. Europe, China, Japan and Korea are leading the world in this IoT revolution and these SMART developments. SMART-IoT will provide a high-profile, leading edge forum for researchers, PhD students, engineers and practitioners to present state-of-the-art advances and innovations in theoretical foundations, systems, infrastructures, tools and applications for the Internet of Things as well as identifying emerging research topics which will help define the future. 3 OUTlIne PROgRAMMe It will be held in England in the Conference Centre of the world famous Manchester United Football Club, Old Trafford, Manchester: It is a 3 day event with a range of optional add-on programmes. To learn more about available sponsorship opportunities and associated benefits, please contact the Conference Secretariat; PAPeR AnD WORKShOP SUbMISSIOnS Research and technical papers featuring innovative results and visionary papers are invited for the SMART Internet of Things conference: Papers must highlight the level of innovation and actual or, expected impact - project descriptions alone are not appropriate. Abstracts of up to 500 words or full paper of up to five pages in length should use the templates supplied by the Secretariat. These papers are subject to a peer review process and those selected will be presented at the conference and in the subsequent ISBN registered proceedings. While authors can submit multiple papers, all presentations must be unique. Each author can only present one paper or poster with co-authors or colleagues expected to register and present other accepted papers, posters or workshop presentations. Proposals for thematic workshops are also invited, which will be incorporated within the conference programme, based on availability of session slots. Workshops will normally include regular submitted papers. They may also include invited keynotes and additional project contributions. All presenters and participants must register for the summit

5 Anthony Furness George Roussos José Roberto de Almeida Amazonas COMMITTeeS The SMART Internet of Things 2012 conference is organised by AIDC Global Limited in co-operation with the Global SMART Identification Association. A distinguished technical programme committee is being formed to evaluate and provide feedback on final draft papers received, finalise the programme, provide feedback on presentations and chair sessions. The Chairman will be Professor Anthony Furness, Technical Coordinator of the EU FP7 CASAGRAS and CASAGRAS2 international projects on the Internet of Things. He has a particular responsibility within the project relating to the development of a globally accepted framework and structure for the Governance of the IoT. Other members already confirmed are Prof Jose Roberto Amazonas from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and Prof George Roussos from Birkbeck College, University of London. 6 SUbMISSIOn OF PAPeRS AnD WORKShOP Submission of high quality papers should focus on scientific research. Technical or visionary concepts are encouraged. Papers should highlight actual, or expected, impacts of results. Accepted papers will be presented orally in the scientific/technical tracks in the programme. They may be grouped within the track into appropriate thematic workshops. Papers not selected for oral presentation may be accepted for presentation in the poster sessions. Plenary and thematic workshop papers may also be included by invitation. All abstracts of up to 500 words or full paper of up to five pages must use the SMART Internet of Things conference template. It is planned that papers accepted for oral presentation should be suitable for inclusion in a special SMART Identification Association Conference Proceedings, with ISBN number, which will be distributed globally. Proposals for workshop topics should be thematically focused and normally will include presentations from several complimentary projects. The thematic workshops will be incorporated within the programme tracks, taking into account available sessions and relevant submitted papers. 7 RegISTRATIOn Full conference registration This includes access to all workshops and conference sessions; workshop materials; conference proceedings on CD, coffee breaks, lunches, conference dinner and a sightseeing visit to nearby Liverpool.
