2 Invitation We invite you to join us in Tampere 2011, where the next Scandinavian International Conference on Fluid Power will be hosted by IHA Department of Intelligent Hydraulics and Automation, Tampere University of Technology (TUT). This is the twelfth time the SICFP -conference will be organized. The conference will be co-organised by the network of Fluid Power Centres in Europe (FPCE) The conference will focus on various areas in the fluid power field including mobile hydraulics, industrial hydraulics, digital hydraulics, water hydraulics, robotics, pneumatics etc. This time especially papers related to intelligent and autonomous machines and energy efficient system solutions are very welcome. Papers are invited describing recent developments in both the academic and industrial fields of fluid power technology. The purpose of the conference is to provide delegates a nice forum for discussions and for the exchange of experiences with fluid power colleagues along with getting the latest information of high level presentations. It is my pleasure to notify that this year the organizers have received a record number of abstracts with very high scientific quality. Hence the SICFP 11 is expected to have a great number of interesting presentations and posters of latest advances in the field of fluid power. The main research areas of IHA are remote handling systems, digital hydraulics and intelligent mobile machines. The other research areas are aircraft hydraulics, condition control, diesel engine hydraulics, machine automation, water hydraulics and virtual technology. Currently IHA belongs to GIM (Generic Intelligent Machines) research group, which is the Centre of Excellence in Research by Academy of Finland. IHA s mission is to make basic and applied research in fluid power automation area in co-operation with industry, and to improve with intelligent machine automation the efficiency and environmentally friendliness of all kind of hydraulic driven machines and equipment. IHA operates both in largescale international projects and also with small companies in product development and testing projects. IHA s co-operation partners are both domestic and international companies and research institutions. 3 SOCIAL PROGRAMME Companions programme Tuesday, May 17 Get Together party , Tampere Hall In the evening before conference there will be a Get Together party a at the conference site, Tampere Hall. The registration desk for the conference will be open during the party. Use the opportunity to avoid the morning rush hour and register yourself to the conference. There will be casual conversations with colleagues with finger food and drinks. 4 Tampere Registration Welcome to Tampere, an international city of culture, science and commerce. Tampere is Finland s third largest city located 160 kilometers north of the capital, Helsinki. Tampere is an inland city, but it has always been a city of waters. The river Tammerkoski flows through Tampere. At over 220 years of age, the Tampere of today is city of over inhabitants. Tampere is easy to reach from all over the world and is a venue for numerous conferences. Tampere Hall, the venue of SICFP 11 conference, is centrally located in a beautiful park area, in the heart of Tampere. More information of Tampere and more information of Tampere Hall Hotel information Travel There are frequent flight to the capital of Finland, Helsinki from major airports abroad. There are connecting flight from Helsinki to Tampere. The flight time is about 30 minutes. Helsinki and Tampere are also connected with regular bus and train services. The travel time with train is about 1,5 hours and by bus 2 hours. Please connect to the conference website for online registration. The registration fee includes admission to all scientific sessions, the conference proceedings, lunches and refreshments during the three conference days, get together party, reception by the city of Tampere and conference dinner. The registration fees are following: Presenting Author early bird rate 570 before February 28 (both oral and poster presentations) Presenting Author 620 after February 28 (The paper will not be published in the proceedings) Delegates early bird rate 720 before February 28 Delegates 800 after February 28 Payment The payment of registration can be paid by bank transfer or by credit card. The payment method can be chosen during registration. Cancellations In the event of cancellations received in writing by the organizers before March 31, 2011, a 150 administration fee will be charged. No refunds will be given after this date. Registration may be transferred to a colleague. Conference Office The conference office at Tampere Hall will be open for registration and information during conference hours and get together party. Tampere has also some direct flight connections from major European airports. Tampere-Pirkkala airport in located 15 km from Tampere city centre. Language The official language of the conference and the proceedings will be English. The room rates listed below include breakfast and VAT and the prices are per room per night.
