The valves isolate sections of a system for servicing and provide a means for charging refrigerant into a unit. Captivated stem-design eliminates the traditional retaining ring, reducing the potential for injury. Multiple end-configurations are available, along with assemblies, to meet the unique needs and flow patterns of a unit. Use of a standard Allen wrench provides actuation of the valve. Brass body and copper-connection tubes virtually eliminate corrosion-related problems. Copper-sweat connections provide basic ends for brazing and eliminate the need for flux, simplifying the installation process. Flare connections also available as an alternative to sweat connections. 5 Installation Instructions Frontseating Valves Factory Installation Step 1 Attach the valve using the mounting procedure that best suits the application. Clean the tubing to be brazed to the Parker frontseating valve. Step 2 Step 3 After brazing, Step 4 quench the joint with a wet rag to cool the joint and remove any flux residue. Flux the copper tubing and insert into the stub. Flux is not required if a low to zero-silver braze alloy is used. Braze the joint. Due to the extended copper stub the valve does not need to be immersed in water or otherwise cooled during brazing. Install a valve core (part # ) and a valve cap (part # B) on the charge port. Field Installation Install the outdoor and indoor units per the manufacturer s recommendations. Route the copper lines between the units. A metal-to-metal seal is now complete. Complete normal factory recommended procedures. 116

The valves isolate sections of a system for servicing and provide a means for charging refrigerant into a unit. One quarter-turn, low-torque actuation allows the valve to be open or closed providing simple and easy servicing. Use of a standard crescent wrench provides simple quarter-turn actuation. Copper-sweat connections provide basic ends for brazing and eliminate the need for flux, simplifying the installation process. Brass body and copper-connection tubes virtually eliminate corrosion-related problems. A unique copper-forming process is used to captivate the valve ball, seals, and spring, eliminating potential leak paths and providing consistent and superior sealing. Pad and post-mounting are available to provide additional support to the valve, if necessary. Multiple end-configurations are available, along with assemblies, to meet the unique needs of a unit. The valves isolate sections of a system for servicing and provide a means for charging refrigerant into a unit. The valve also holds a restrictor and screen to meter refrigerant and filter debris, increasing system efficiency. 15 Technical Information and Copper Check valves are designed to allow flow in one direction only. They are used to prevent backwards flow through dryers and other devices that are designed for directional flow. Copper Ball Parker's Copper Ball are used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems to maintain flow in only one direction. Internal components seat or check, preventing flow back through the valve. These products are often used in conjunction with dryers or strainers to ensure unidirectional flow, with compressors to prevent liquid refrigerant from flooding back to the inlet, or in system lines to redirect flow to another circuit. Application Refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Stainless steel ball is contained in a one-piece brass retainer within a copper tube to provide corrosion resistance and durability.
