5 Castello Spezzano Via del Castello, Spezzano di Fiorano Modenese (MO) The Castello Spezzano is an elegant palazzo with renaissance porticos. Its beautiful Hall of the Views is hung with 57 paintings of the lands ruled by the Pio family in the 16 th century. The old prisons in the pentagonal tower have been preserved and it also houses the municipal vinegar factory. The latter has three batterie or rows of barrels which are used to produce genuine Modenese Balsamic Vinegar. There is also a ceramics museum in the castle which documents the techniques used in ceramic-making from Neolithic times to modern tile-making. The museum s educational service provides educational packages with guided tours and games for schools.
