2 Dental Assistant Dental Assistants provide chair-side assistance in both private dental practices or in public dental clinics. They assist other dental workers such as dental practitioners, therapists and hygienists in receiving patients, preparing them for dental examinations, and providing care and treatment for the teeth, mouth and gums. They are fundamental in maintaining hygiene standards and infection control practices within the clinic. Dental assistants will often also carry out reception and administration duties including managing appointments and keeping records of patients treatments. Full Time study mode: 340 hours (17 weeks intensive course) The classes are allocated 20 contact hours per week. Please contact Menzies Institute of Technology to find information on class timetable days. All theoretical and practical sessions are done at the Menzies School of Dental Health campus and involve face-to-face delivery, practical demonstrations, in class activities and assessments. 2. Workplace training and apprenticeship/traineeship The student must have suitable workplace employment and Menzies Institute can arrange flexible workplace training arrangements with the employer.
