2 INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Increasingly, spply chains for defense prodcts are being threatened by forces seeking to access technical intellectal property, to alter prodcts performance, to disrpt operations, or to benefit economically from the robst U.S. defense market. These threats can come from insiders within the defense indstrial base and their sppliers; terrorist grops; nation states (adversarial and friendly) and activist hackers. Threats can also come from dishonest merchants of conterfeit components seeking financial gain. The third NDIA Spply Chain Smmit focses on emerging threats from the attempted exploitation and penetration of systems tied to the prodction of materials for or military, and from compromised system performance de to ncertain component provenance. Whether the targets are the bsiness networks that contain intellectal property, the manfactring networks that rn or factories, or the components that are integrated into the finished prodcts every aspect of the spply chain is at risk. This event is targeted to professionals who develop policy, manage programs, or make sorcing decisions, and looks more closely at the threats to prodct integrity and mission assrance from technology exploitation in the spply chain. Yo ll hear from senior indstry and defense leaders, speaking abot the threats they face daily in their extended spply chains. Yo will also have the opportnity to discss yor own challenges and sccesses with secring yor spply chain. This Smmit is formatted to allow greater participation between the speakers and the attendees, with periods for moderated discssion throghot the day. NDIA SUPPLY CHAIN SERIES NDIA s Spply Chain Committee has organized a series of smmits focsed particlarly on the spply chain where it intersects with national secrity. NDIA members are concerned abot reforming evolving government reglations and strengthening indstrial defense spply chains. All of these activities impact a company s spply chain processes and practices. NDIA s Spply Chain Series will clearly articlate the vale of spply chain management in national secrity, which is enhanced by better managing spply chains across the entire defense indstrial base. The first event, Strategies for Creating Vale Amid Volatility, provided senior leadership the high-level information needed to create an organizational spply chain strategy to benefit both their bsiness and national secrity. The second event, Investing in Spply Chain Risk Management (SCRM), provided spply chain professionals, prchasing managers, and cost analysts insight into the types of risk fond in spply chains for national defense prodcts, how this risk impacts the vale and economics of bsiness and national secrity, and how this risk can be managed to deliver better performance. This third event, Defeating the Threats, will provide spply chain professionals, program managers, and systems engineers an nderstanding of how decisions made in the early stages of a program can mitigate or avoid threats to prodct performance and delivery, as well as national secrity threats that cold be embedded in their prodcts throgh spply chain maniplation. *****THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO U.S. CITIZENS ONLY.
